From DVD to Blu-ray there are too many to list, but from just Blu-ray to a better Blu-ray there's just a handful. I would say 80-90% of my double-dipping on Blu-ray has been upgrading an import to a superior US version or vice versa.

Some notable movies I double-dipped on:
Watchmen: Director's Cut -> Watchmen: Ultimate Cut (Still have both)
Predator -> Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition (I've put both of these in a case together. The original if I want to watch the film, and the UHE if I want to watch the features)
Equilibrium (Japanese Blu-ray) -> Miramax: High-Powered Action Pack (Still have both)
Total Recall (US) -> Total Recall (UK) -> Total Recall: Mind-Bending Edition (Better transfer)
Stargate -> Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition (Better transfer, special features)

I've had or had all of those at one time time too. Have all of them yet except for the first Scream on blu ray. Got rid of it cause I have the 5 disc set.

The list of DVD to Blu-ray would be in the hundreds, so I'm sticking with Blu-ray to Blu-ray ....

For preferred or improved PQ ...

Evil Dead II
Predator
Total Recall
Night of The Living Dead (Japan)

As part of other sets ...

Blazing Saddles
The Magnificent Seven

Original Star Wars movies: VHS, DVD, Blu Ray
Matrix: DVD, HD-DVD, Blu Ray

I don't think there were any that I bought in all four formats. Way too many VHS-DVD and DVD-Blu Ray double dips to remember, much less count.

Originally I purchased Phantom of the Opera as a DVD with Dolby Digital 5.1. When it came out as a Blu, I purchased for the upgrade in video along with Dolby Digital 5.1. Later on, I ordered from Japan with TrueHD 5.1 and PCM 5.1. What a difference in audio.

The Last Samurai
Originally DVD, then Blu-ray with DD 5.1. Then ordered from Hong Kong with TrueHD 5.1

I had Superman and then got the Superman Anthology so I gave the first away.
Last Black Friday I got the Dark Knight for 10 bucks at Walmart, then today I got the steelbook for 4.99. I will give my first to my sister.

I will double dip for E.T. for the steelbook at Target and if a digibook becomes available. Same with Jaws if a steelbook shows up.

For Blu-Rays...

Doubled-up on "Arietty," first with the UK edition, then the US Disney release. Keeping both, since the British version has such a unique dub.

Recently doubled-up on "The Butterfly Effect." Got the UK Trilogy edition, but then got the US release with more extras. I don't remember if the PQ is an improvement or not; I think both were about the same.

Doubled-up on "Castle in the Sky." Got the UK edition first, then decided to get the Disney US release. Got both copies, but I'll probably sell off the UK one at some point.

Doubled-up on "Cronos." First, got it with the Guillermo Del Toro collection from the UK. Got the Criterion Collection edition later when it was relatively inexpensive. Kept both copies.

Double-dipped on "DOA: Dead or Alive," first to get the French Steelbook, then replaced its disc with the US release so I wouldn't have those God-awful forced subs.

Double-dipped on "Dorian Gray," first with the UK edition, then decided to get a region-A copy.

Double dipped on "Evil Dead II," because the newer 25th Anniversary Edition has better PQ.

Triple-dipped on "The Expendables," first to get the UK Steelbook, followed by the US theatrical and extended editions. Both US versions are in the Steelbook, making it a rather complete set.

Double-dipped on "The Green Lantern." First got the UK Steelbook, then replaced discs with the US version (which was relatively cheap anyway).

Double-dipped on the original "I Spit On Your Grave." First bought the UK edition, not realizing it was censored and has horrid PQ. Later got the US edition, which is complete and has decent PQ. Kept the UK edition anyway, mostly for its packaging.

Doubled-up on "Lord of the Rings." Theatrical cuts and Extended Editions. Keeping both. It was all part of the plan anyway.

Double-dipped on "Machine Girl," because I had the UK edition, and was hoping the US release would have better PQ (it did not ).

Triple-dipped on "Metropolis." First, got the UK Steelbook. Then, got both the US copies for the complete edition and the Giorgio Moroder edition, and stuck both discs in the Steelbook.

Doubled-up on "Pan's Labyrinth." First got the US copy, but then got a second (and DNR-free) copy with the UK Guillermo Del Toro collection.

Double-dipped on "Pulp Fiction." First got the UK Steelbook, then replaced discs with the US edition (which wasn't too expensive anyway).

Triple-dipped on "Rambo." First, got the UK box set, which includes a region-locked copy of the fourth film. Later got the US releases for both the theatrical and extended cuts. Still kept all of them.

Doubled-up on "Red Cliff," first to get the International Cut, but then decided to get the edited version in case I wanted to see the movie in a shorter time span.

Doubled-up on "Salo: 120 Days of Sodom." God knows why. First got the UK BFI edition, later got the Criterion Collection edition. Kept both.

Double dipped on "Stargate" because the newer 15th Anniversary Edition has better PQ.

I must have quadrouple-dipped on "Total Recall," because the original release was terrible, then I got the German Steelbook, but discovered it was censored so I got the UK edition, which had the best PQ at its time. I went and ordered the new Mind-Bender Edition, because it's cheap, it's region-A, it has extras, and it has good PQ.

Can't remember if I had the initial release of "T2." If so, I would have upgraded to the Skynet Edition for better PQ.

Double-dipped on "T3," because I saw the German Steelbook at a flea market and decided to nab it. Found out it has better AQ anyway.

Double-dipped on "X-Men: First Class," first got the UK Steelbook, then replaced the discs with the US edition (which was on sale anyway).

Still plan on double-dipping:
"Centurion" (have the UK edition, might want a region-A version)

"Dumbo" (have the UK edition, might want a region-A version)

"The Gold Rush" (have the UK edition, might want the Criterion Collection edition)

"The Great Dictator" (have the UK edition, might want the Criterion Collection edition)

"La Haine" (maybe; have the UK edition, might want the Criterion Collection edition)

"Mesrine" (have the UK edition, would like a region-A copy, and have both parts on their own discs)

Any other film that shows improved PQ, or has alternate cuts, or overall something new to offer without being outrageously expensive.

Told myself a few years back I would never double-dip on blu's like I did with DVD's.

(adopt Arnie voice)...Wrong!

So far -

Predator (got the superior old original release but wanted the steel as well for the extras)

Gladiator (had to have the French steelbook)

2001 (had to have the Canadian steelbook)

Blade Runner (got the UK 2-disc and sold, got the US 5-disc and sold, had to have the briefcase - and ill be getting the gift pack too)

Lost Highway (got the German amaray then had to have the digibook)

Inception (thought I wanted the briefcase, didnt like it, sold it, luckily kept my triple play slipcase)

off the top of my head anyway!

I thought I was bad!

T2 - UK original Optimum (barebones) blu is better than the Skynet (and no ridiculous loading times either!). You can find it very cheap on amazon.uk from a marketplace seller, I did. Japanese is best of all I think? but I dont buy Japanese blus.

Now that I think about it, I have more double dips than I thought.

Halloween triple pack (H20; Curse; Resurrection). That disc mysteriously stopped playing only a few months after I bought it.

So then, it was...

H2O Echo Bridge - I know...I know. But it was only ten bucks.
Resurrection - Echo Bridge - PQ is actually really good on this one.
H2O/Curse double pack -- Came across this for 7.88 at Walmart in the checkout aisle. Couldn't resist.

And soon it will be the shout factory version of the original Halloween II.

Strictly talking about blu-ray double dips, as any older title I already probably triple dipped for (laserdisc, dvd, blu-ray).

Dipped for 3d version.
Beauty and the Beast
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Kung Fu Panda
The Lion King
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Shrek
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Up

Double Dipped because a set came out that included previously seperate title
Independence Day
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
The 11 previously released Bond films
The Misfits
North By Northwest
Silence of the Lambs
Some Like it Hot

Doubled to replace previous inferior transfer

Dirty Dancing
Lethal Weapon
Lethal Weapon 2
Stargate
Terminator 2
Total Recall

The only Blu-ray to Blu-ray double dip for me was....

Casino Royale.

Went from the Dolby Digital 5.1 Disc, to the Collector's Edition with Dolby TrueHD.
