Ok, so I am the exact type of customer that Blu-Ray should be targeting. I own over 2k DVD's, and am just preparing to dive head-first into the HD arena. Already upgraded EVERYTHING. (Sound, TV, etc) Had already planned on going with the Sony Blu-Ray, but after the horrid debut a few weeks ago, and Sony's non-existent news or info on how they intend to actually CORRECT everything... I am having serious second thoughts. HD-DVD is sounding a lot more attractive, and seem to have their act together. I get a bad feeling about Blu-Ray now for some reason -- HD-DVD continues to roll out titles constantly, and are actually picking GOOD movies to realease in HD instead of the crappy and ill-thought ones that Blu-Ray and Co have pulled out of some strange hat. What incredibly bad choices. Hitch in HD? Yeah.
Anyway, unless some news comes out soon, I'll be tossing the three Blu-Ray DVD's I've already purchased and switch sides. Reasons? 1. Expensive & Cruddy 1st player released. 2. Bad, bad choices in titles. 3. Seems like they are already losing steam. Why aren't they being more aggressive? 4. Poor quality in products. 5. Reviews are some of the worst that I've read. 6. Still no idea of when they will be able to utilize their full potential. 7. HD-DVD just looks a lot better at this point. 8. Blu-Ray's total disregard for the special features that make DVD such a cool medium. They obviously don't care about consumer wants, nor do they seem to care much for the films they are releasing. In the beginning, I felt Blu-Ray was going to win this war -- now I seriously doubt it. A lot of bad choices... PS3 is going to be their only saviour. I will wait until October -- and if something drastic hasn't happened, I'm jumping ship and cancelling my order. Last edited by goonie; 07-15-2006 at 04:26 AM. |
