There will surely be some knuckleheads out there who swear that this film is better than the original.

Example: Guy 1: Dude, Batman and Robin is way better than any of those Nolan films.
Guy 2: ........(facepalm)......(sighs heavily and walks away)

I am 99% sure this is going to suck, but I make it a golden rule never to judge a movie and give each one a watch before I complain. Plus, I love Daniel Stern

As others have said, this looks f-ing awful.

Oddly enough, just last week I visited the A Christmas Story house in Cleveland, Ohio. Had a guided tour through the house from the legit A Christmas Story. Not ONE mention from any staff of this crap, probably because they were embarrassed by it or hated it.

One thing is for sure, I don't think they filmed at the original house. So I expect either lookalike sets or a different house. Maybe they snuck in some exterior shots, but I'd think it's unlikely.

everyone whos going on about how they shouldnt make a sequel do realize that, there 2 movie sequals allready right?
When I first saw this thread title i was hoping it meant we were getting the REAL Christamas Story sequels "Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss"
or perhaps the 3rd follow up "It Runs in the Family"

calling it a Christmas story 2 kind gives it that National Lampoons Christmas Vacation 2 kind of vibe. and thats not a compliment.
If they wanted to make another sequal they should have based it on one of the other Jean Shepard "RALPH PARKER" plays, or heck even made a christmas themed follow up of the original with a now grown up Peter Billingsly returning to the part.
I am not against another sequal they just should have not called it a christmas story 2 and based it on actual Jean Sheapard work.

Or better yet, they could have adapted one of the other plays, into a movie.
would have been cool to see The Phantom of the open hearth, or The great american 4th of July and other disasters turned into a movie, the television adaptations were pretty cool back in the late 70s early 80s

or even better give us a bluray release of either of them. Matt Dillion was pretty good as Ralphie in Great American 4th of July
And James Broderick is pitch perfect as Mr Parker in both tv playhouse movies.

Why, just because it had a narrator, a gruff father figure, a big sense of family and was set in the past? By that logic, Goodfellas is just A Christmas Story with gangsters!

I hope not. I like watching A Christmas Story over the course of Christmas Day. I never seem to watch it in one sitting, but catch the entire thing by the end of the marathon.

I didn't even know there was a sequel.

Okay, I see its a newer one from this year. I thought it was a old movie from 20 years ago or so. Would make sense of what I never heard of it then.
