The release date is today, and usually they are right on time (if not early). But this title is going to take an extra 2 days or so. Could it be that this is such a popular title that it sold out in pre-orders in the first few days?

For that matter, how do they determine who gets the titles first when their stock is short? Isn't it first come first serve?

dude, just wait until the day it comes out. i do. or go to to your local best buy store.

For the love of God people, it's not like it will be next year! Don't you have enough movies to satisfy your urges for a delay of a few days?

Screw Amazon! They just delayed it till December! I am going to go to Best Buy (or target if I have to) today and pick up my own copy! Forget waiting another month!

These emails don't always necesarrily mean anything.

I've had a situation where I received an email from Amazon stating my order was delayed 4 or so weeks, and three hours later I received an email stating it had shipped.

Not the case... they just delayed it three times and told me I had to approve the delay! Instead I canceled.
I might as well just get the thing at BB with the $10 off coupon I have.

Maybe I should get prime too - we order stuff from them all the time, lots of books and CDs in addition to blu-rays.
My 2001 shipped though the Shining was delayed. I guess they have a shortage and some customers receive them and others are delayed

I disagree, i pre-ordered this soon after it was available for pre-order. I don't think they got any shipment in! I doubt anyone is getting them on Blu (have no idea about HD-DVD or DVD).

What about the titles that are in stock. I takes usually a week after I placed the order for it to ship. Why is that. THEY ARE IN STOCK!!! thats not Warner Brothers fault.

Wow, an additional two day wait. That sounds like the end of the world to me. Seriously, folks, I cannot think of one single film I've ever seen that would drive me ape shit having to wait another two days to receive it. Chill, guys...

Sorry, I'm not trying to be an a**hole here. The real point I was trying to make is that one's life should not revolve around how fast you get something in life like a BD. That kind of perspective is way out of whack. I'm down here in Southern California, where people's homes are burning to the ground. That's the kind of perspective about which I speak.

Now, having said all that, I agree that 5-6 weeks defies explanation...

I have never seen that 5-6 week delay from Amazon go to that length of time. You'll probably see it within the week.

I ordered The Shining, Full Metal Jacket & Eye's Wide Shut & a Christmas story through WHV on Sunday & I already received the 3 Kubricks this morning! I guess Warner sorted out there computer system. I am glad I ordered it from them since I got each movie for $15 each and paid only 5 for taxes.

Well, perhaps this might add some clarification as to whether the problem lies with Amazon or with Warner? I pre-ordered 2001 and The Shining from Columbia House, and I just received an email moments ago stating the shipment would be delayed, that the items were not in stock yet.

Sounds to me like a Warner issue, not Amazon...
