+1

Whisper of the heart and secret world of arreitty had pretty good actors/actresses. Im not an anime buff so I can see where one would be cautious but they are dialed out pretty well. The actors/actresses seem to fit the personality of the characters just fine.

Depends on the subject matter... Disney probably passed on this due to the relationship between two of characters, which would get the PTC or some conservative groups panties in a bunch. (I'm not going to bother explaining it, it is a major plot point, but for those of you have seen it, you should understand...)

Well, that actually made me more enticed to see this movie. I was pretty upset that I didn't have an opportunity to see it in theaters. I was about to drive up to Denver, and it was going to leave the theater the day before I was going to drive up.

1. The pre-order image indicates that yes, it will.
2. No, since this release isn't done by Disney.

Yes, instead, it should match the slipcovers to the other foreign animated films distributed by GKIDS/New Video Group (Cinedigm), such as A Cat in Paris, Chico & Rita, Tales of the Night, and The Rabbi's Cat.

There is absolutely no reason to think they ever will. They had first choice and passed.

I have the Taiwan release (which had the concert video, the music video, a press conference, postcards, and the Yokohama map as extras) and although its a great release compared to the Hong Kong version, I am seriously thinking of double dipping since the English dub was well produced and the extras seem to be extensive.

As I noted earlier, due to a key plot within the story between the two main characters, they will never touch this. They're too public of a company.

I'm not going to spoil that plot point, because it sort of ruins the whole film.

I Remember getting excited to see it during spring break but then I found out that it's a limited release. The Lyric Cafe Cinema in Fort Collins had it for about a couple of weeks and everyone urged me to go but I didn't have the time for it.

My friend lent it to me and I just got done watching it. and yeah im not gonna lie if that one specific scene didn't make me feel uncomfortable. In terms of Ghibli movies, it wasn't anything ground breaking. But it was nice to see a movie that was really simple.

I don't think I'll ever get it on Blu-Ray though. It's not up there with howl or Spirited Away

Great, great movie. Not as good as the best of the best (Spirited Away), but still fantastic. I'll buy it if it ever hits $10.

A official page is finally posted by Cinedigm Entertainment.

http://www.newvideo.com/gkids/from-up-on-poppy-hill/

Doesn't list much for the bonus features yet. I was hoping for a full listing.

Quote:
BONUS FEATURES

Original Japanese Version, Feature-length Storyboards, Celebrity Cast Recording Featurette, Interview with Goro Miyazaki, Music Video, Yokohama Featurette, Original Japanese Trailers and TV Spots
The video on the site appears to have a different edited trailer, but for some reason I can only listen to the audio and not see the video.

I picked up the BD here in Australia and I have to say, if you already haven't seen it, the staff speech given by Hayao Miyazaki is classic.

It's a pity there is no English friendly release BD of the making-off that came out in Japan.

I think you are referring to the stand-alone Documentary BDs in Japan produced about the making of the film, and not any bonus features on the Japanese Film BD, right? Too bad they don't carry English subtitles on those BDs since it isn't the film. Not to mention, they tend to just as pricey as the film itself in Japan.
