Default PS3 audio problem

Alright, so on Surf's Up, I noticed the audio drop out for a millisecond right after the opening logo. Actually it drops out on the PCM and there's a pop on the TrueHD track...

Last night I was watching Meet The Robinsons and there's a TON of audio drop outs. It always occurs when there's a cut in the movie. And it's also only on PCM. I tried the Dolby Digital track and it's fine. Anyone else experience anything like this?

I watched Meet The Robinsons and I had no problem watching the movie with PCM on. Try another movie to see if they do it to? It might be a problem with your receiver?

sounds like a receiver problem to me. My receiver changes the output based on the input.. so if he detects a change it will switch over. But it sounds like yours is changing when it shouldn't. Make sure the audio option has PCM (or whatever the highest quality is) selected on the BD. It is possibly something wrong with the receiver or the HDMI connection. Make sure it is all well connected with no stress on the cords.

It's not the reciever. I just plugged the PS3 directly into the TV and the same problem in the same spots occur. I also think that if it was stress on the cords or if it was a problem with the HDMI then A) It would do it for Dolby Digital and B) it wouldn't do it in the same spots every time.

We asked a Film Sound Professional to test the disc on his high caliber gear, and he found no dropout problems on his disc.

I'd like to bring this thread back up again as I am also having problems with my copy of Ratatouille (and I am guessing also Cars). It's ONLY on the PS3 as far as I can tell, right now I am in the middle of swapping out my PS3 for my BDP-S1 to test it out...

It's the multi-angle/seamless branching that Disney is using to have text appear in multiple languages on screen. If you pay attention on Meet the Robinsons, the PCM drop outs always occur near text of some sort. If they go to a shot where you see Bowler Hat Guy's "To Do" list, there's a drop out on a cut very near to there so that they can jump to a clip to show his "To Do" list in Spanish or French if those happen to be the primary languages you've chosen. My assumption is that it is multi-angle, but I noticed similar drop outs on the Waiting... telestrator commentary (which is seamless branching). I will guarantee you that if you check against those timecodes listed earlier, you will find text screens very close (such as the subtitles when the Dinosaur speaks, even something as simple as the address of the orphanage). It's an issue with the PS3 and has nothing to do with your receiver or the disc (well, I guess it's technically the disc, but you can't get around it since that's how they authored it).

He's right, it is the PS3... The BDP-S1 works fine...
