US Marine Corps - real life education

Outside of that, I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a double major in Political Science and Economics, then joined the Corps.

The Corps in their wise judgement, sent me to Georgetown University for a Masters in Applied Intelligence.

I learned more in the Marine Corps and all the places they sent me than I ever did sitting in a classroom.

Not to mention the traveling which was great, except when taking fire. Those times weren't always so great.

High School grad here. Tried a couple years of College... wasn't for me. Then tried a couple years of University... also wasn't for me. Took a year to figure out what I really wanted. When I decided, I began a 5 year plan (which has taken me 6) to work my ass off to save up some serious $$$. The reason? So that I could move to Vancouver to become a film/television actor. Having saved enough money to live for approximately 2 years without any work will offer me the opportunity to LITERALLY be available for anything and at anytime of day. I am making this move by mid-December this year and hope to be recognizable on shows like Smallville, Kyle XY, The L Word, Supernatural, and/or many others by the 2008/2009 seasons. Otherwise, I'll be doing huge amounts of student/independent films.

Dropped out when I was a Junior in HS. School was not my thing. It restricted my learning abilities and who I wanted to be. I did get my GED as soon as I left though.

I have a nice job, everything I want and am pretty happy. Have plans on starting my own Engineering/Architectural/Interior Design firm. I figure, if I don't have the knowledge to do what I really want - I will hire the people that do and run the company

I believe school is for some people and is NOT for others. However, with all the degree votes here, I might have to get one just to say I have one.
