The Criterion Film Of The Week

This is kinda cool. Is it just limited to Criterion blu rays thou? If not I would love to discuss The BRD trilogy.

Don't have all of the Criterion and renting is not always an easy option, still I will participate for the one's I do have. So for me in May it will be Seven Samurai, looking forward to it

Awesome idea! I'll try to participate as much as I can. Now I'll finally sit down and watch Seven Samurai. Maybe I'll convince myself to finally buy Wings of Desire and 12 Angry Men too.

To verify, does the 12 Angry Men diacussion start on the 28th? We have to see it before that date, right?

Discussion can begin any time on the 28th, meaning you can watch it on the 28th in the morning, for example and discuss it in the afternoon.

Well, I assume if you don't catch the movie till the 29th or 30th, you can just join in then?

It would be good if the first post could be edited to link to the beginning of the discussion of each film, to make it easy to go back and find them later (this thread will hopefully grow huge quite quickly).

I have ordered 400 Blows and Seven Samurai, so this club has been good for getting me to pull the trigger on those, if nothing else.

Looking forward to joining in the discussion when I can, I have only recently started watching classic movies so this will definitely be helpful for me. I just watched 12 Angry Men and watched Seven Samurai pretty recently as well, but The 400 Blows is at the top of my list of movies to see and the other two look good as well.

Yeah, as long as you watch it within the week, you can discuss it lol. I don't want 12 Angry Men discussions when we're on Wings of Desire, though.

Looking forward to reading it. I did a paper on Fish Tank this semester. I hadn't rewatched the film and just based it off of memory, but I think I made some solid and valid points on how it's a great example of not conforming to gender roles.
