Beautiful, Mr. Pegg. One of the things I like most about those two films is how distinctly they look. They have such a 'clean'/'sterilized' look that I think fits perfectly. Usually you get Star Wars 2.0 or some homage/throwback to Alien.

The way my Imax is here I couldn't tell so I have to ask, "what scenes were Imax scenes?" I'm pretty sure its the big action scenes.

It seemed like mostly everything not in the ship. There was quite a bit and more than I was expecting.

[Show spoiler] I only know Khan from, "ST2: Wrath of Khan." So to answer your question, "yeah but not the physical type though" Just look at old Spocks reaction when the young Spock asked about him.

Honestly, I like the lens flares. To me it's always added a certain dimension to the first (JJ Abrams) Star Trek film. And even in other films as well, such as Die Hard. So I definitely agree with Simon Pegg on his point about lens flares. And I don't think his comments are directed at the people who like to joke about it, but more to the people who literally profess as if the lens flares in JJ's films have caused some offense to their person.

For me, 3D only makes the picture blurry if I tilt my head in any direction. If I'm looking at the screen straight on, everything is fine. If I adjust my head, BAM. Blurry. It's weird.

I didn't want to see STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS in faux-IMAX 3D, but I went with it only because I got to see it at 8:00PM last night during one of the "Fan Sneaks" or whatever they were called.

I was home by 11:00PM. It was great. I want that all the time. I'd gladly pay more to get a good night's sleep and still see it "early," ha.

It's funny, even with the spoiler tag I thought so it is that.

That would make sense--if you tilt your head the two halves of the image for any given object won't line up horizontally, relative to your head (in real life, anything you're focusing on will have the two images seen by each eye lined up horizontally).

This will be a day 1 buy for me just like the last one.

The majority of the reviews have been positive. Last I checked it was sitting at 88% on RT and the majority of posters here and on AVS have been very positive. Glad to hear you liked it as well. I just talked to a group of friends who caught an earlier showing and all 3 of them loved it. 2 thought it was as good as the first and the 3rd had not seen the first apparently so he could not judge.

This is going to be one of the rare movies I venture out to the theater to see as I usually just wait for the blu. I loved the first film and am excited to see this one!

Some would say "unnoticable", some would say "unobtrusive".

I would call this "unobtrusive", and this is from someone that really doesn't give a crap about 3D. It made a few scenes more intense, but it wasn't SPLAT! in your face like a theme park ride.

The only issue I had was that the film is very visually dark to begin with, and the 3D just amps that up, so there were a few shots (underwater, black of space) where it was neigh impossible to actually see what was going on. I'm not sure if this was wholly unintentional, but that was really the only adverse effect IMO.

The film itself was great - they are doing a much better job in the new films of giving all the crew something to do - you don't get the feeling that it's Kirk/Bones/Spock and the back-up singers. In fact, if anyone got the short end of things it was Bones.

I also enjoyed Carol -
[Show spoiler] Marcus, and I really love the fact that both Kirk and Spock now both have recurring love-interests - much more satisfying than a new girl with each film, or none at all
.

The only real disappointment I had was with Peter Weller - it was an odd combination of overplaying and underplaying - I just never felt like he was quite right.

Definitely a day one buy for me - and I'll prob pick up the 3-d version even though I don't have a 3-D tv yet, if it also includes the regular Blu.
