I've seen commercials all year long for releases on both formats. Nothing about blu-ray or hd-dvd specific but general ones. Buy this movie on dvd and blu-ray and the sorts.

Please note I like the PQ, not the coverage or newly discovered bias report.

I am preaching to the choir that the report has no grounds; we just need to continue to support Blu. The next couple weeks are going to be big for Blu regardless.

I find it pretty interesting that by their own admission "many purchasers of the PS3 weren't aware it played blu-ray", so they're saying that sales of software may actually increase as more and more people discover their gaming platform also plays Hi-Def movies, without any additional hardware?

And they fail to mention that you have to spend $400+ for a X-box 360 (which I own) before that $179 add-on is even usable...

This is a totally biased article, and makes apparent that NBC is heavily biased due to their being owned by Universal. Turnabout will be fair play, however, when the pendulum swings in the other direction once Universal goes neutral (and they will, you can only ignore the numbers for so long...)

Actually, a lot of HD DVD fans have been talking that point long before the cheap players were announced. Just view any of the nielsen threads, mostly at other sites, to see how they spin that. I took him to be talking the same line since no one knows what effect the cheap HD DVD players are going to have yet.

Basically the comment here: The numbers on their face seem impressive leads me to believe that since he's essentially saying, on the surface it looks good but if you dig deeper you'll find, etc.. I'm not sure how people can spin blu-ray winning week after week or a 2:1 advantage.

This won't be good. NBC = Universal yada yada. This will be a 20 minute commercial for HD-DVD. They just decide to report on it now? Right before the shopping season begins?

If they drop the fact that Wal-Mart will be selling $98 that Friday then it's obviously biased against Blu-ray.

If they were really trying to make a big impact they would have done the news segment tonight in time for the big sale tomorrow morning.

I've seen commercials for new movies saying "also available for Blu-ray" etc. etc.

I am talking about the new Disney commercial promoting Cars, Ratatouille (sp?) and Pirates 3...

plus I've seen another BD commercial recently as well...

before that it was always the HD DVD commercial with the guy from sopranos..

wouldn't this actually be a good thing for blu-ray if they already have a 2-1 advantage in software sales lead and once those 60% realize they have a blu-ray, just increase the lead even more??

"That same email points to how successful the movie "Transformers" has been on HD DVD, its exclusive platform release, selling a 100,000 copies its first day, 190,000 in its first week. "

lies!!!! lol, poor guy.

"And another rough issue for Sony, backing Blu-ray, which still has some key partners in Disney, 20th Century Fox and Lions Gate. HD-DVD enjoys Paramount, Dreamworks and Time Warner."

umm...Sony has Warner also. nice journalism.

A horrendous article!

'Your' forum, lol.

If you call momentum a bunch of HD-DVD fanboys getting into a tizz over a discounted, clearance HD-DVD player on internet forums momentum, I guess your correct.

I'll stick to listening to industry insiders, who know whats going on the behind the scenes, and watching the impact of mainstream ads and marketing from the likes of Disney and Sony with the new 40GB PS3.

As I've stated, it's one of those small, insignificant, victories they thrive upon, like a cult.

They stick their head in the sand singing la, la, la to what's happening in the real world.

I concur. How about this: http://www.homemediamagazine.com/new...ticle_id=11449 This was a link from blu-raydisc.com, and may also explain why we're starting to see BD exclusive commercials...

now i have a rather large theory about top down imperitives from General electric to universal to NBC with regards to politicians debates and the war but that is not an issue for this thread (or forum!)

Anyways, the point is ya NBC is unlikely to say much good about bluray when universal is telling them "MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE WE ARN"T IDIOTS FOR GOING HDDVD"

WTH? Didnt see any bias?

1) 190K transformers in 2 days? ... while NPD reported 115K for the week
2) Warner is listed on HD-DVDs side though they are neutral
3) Sony/columbia isnt listed as a movie studio

That article is FUD-tastic

News thrives on spreading fear just like the numerous hd dvd fans in drag who currently reside here.

Wow, I was just watching some of the videos on CNBC in regards to the stocks of gaming system companies and such. That Jim Goldman is a fanboi for Microsoft by far.

Every single video he's pumping up Microsoft and downgrading Sony non-stop.

It was funny because they'd have other analysts on there and they'd talk about the PS3 and then Jim would go back into talking up Microsoft and Xbox.

Who's that guy who comes on late night (in the UK anyway) who pulls no punches and slams his guests if he disagrees with 'em?

I'd like to see him in a one on one with Toshiba and Paramount, lol

Please close this thread. NBC is simply a spin machine for HD dud. This thread is just unnecessary aggravation.
