Yes, but that doesn't really make them particularly good movies does it?

ID4: Jeff Goldblum saves the world from aliens with a Mac and the help of Will Smith and Randy Quaid. Yes, if this isn't one of those movies where you shut your brain off 30 seconds into it and just enjoy watching stuff blow up, I don't know what is.

T3: John Conner runs from a psychotic machine (again). Rehashes bits of 1 and 2 but "mixes it up" with the terminator being a chick (well looking like one at least).

Mr. and Mrs. Smith: I can't really say much about this because about 15 minutes in I was so bored I stopped watching.

(And of course, this is just my opinion of these movies.)

As all of these are catalog titles, they will probably be distant runner-ups to the new releases of PotC 3 and Superbad. The steeper price point for being Fox/MGM titles won't help their sales either. Season 1 of BSG will be hindered by price and being a catalog title (and being HD-DVD) even though it is one of the better titles on the list.

most good movies are hits for a reason..because they're good. you sound like one of those terrible movie critics that hates every movie because you're too stuck up to realize movies are entertainment

Not surprised by who voted certain ways, but without naming names: I just have to ask the people that voted super close margins...how the hell can you honestly say that and believe it?

Looking at the content coming on both sides, how does anyone really believe that HD-DVD is going to be 55-45 or closer through the holidays?

Big exclusives obviously favor Blu and if even current trends hold, you're looking at a conservative 2-1 in favor of BD on multiplatform titles.

Help me understand that.

Could be over 80:20 or more but I wouldn't put HD DVD past more deals like the add-on with 3 free movies (that ring up at stores) then 5 mail in as well for dirt cheap. I'm not saying it would win them the week as it hasn't yet but woulld prevent the ratios from going 80+ possibly.

Barring something completely unknown and unforseen they will have some leftover TF sales, Shrek 3, and Bourne 3.

I do fully expect more aggressive firesales and giveaways from them.

Does anyone really think this is enough, even with hardware firesale, to keep them at 55-45 or closer to Blu through the next 2-3 months of Blu onslaught?

Again, someone needs to help me understand that.

(Although I think I know the real reason. Post histories never lie.)

Nope, not even close. Their best chances were the last two weeks with Transformers and then the HD DVD add-on blow out sale with 3 free movies. Many HD DVD fanatics are crying that Nielsen numbers don't count walmart. Honestly it doesn't matter, a 1-2 day firesale isn't going to have any sustainable #'s moved.

Some SERIOUS ass-kicking is gonna happen that week! Maybe we will hit the upper eighties or even 90 mark! I didn't realize the disparity until now.
