That's the great thing about 1080p 24fps.You get a perfect picture they way it was meant to be seen.
By end of 2008 all HDTV will be 1080p then many AVS members will be sad.

Pitfall, River Raid, Megamania, Chopper Command, Enduro, Kaboom and Grand Prix are amongst my favourites.

95% of the already purchased HDTV's are 720p or 1080i. A HUGE majority of these people are not going to go out and purchase 1080p just because it's available. So the whole 1080i vs 1080p debate is pointless really....also the average consumer is STILL buying Vizio 720p's at Costco or Wal-mart, so 1080p is just a plus for the educated technophiles like us and that's about it.....

1080p 24fps will be standard for displays by the end of 2008.
There's a tremendous difference in picture quality if you own a 1080p 24 fps display..
Don't let AVS brainwash you.

I don't go to AVS so they ain't brainwashing me brother. I seriously cannot tell between 1080i and 1080p on my TV and I have 2 nice one's...I can however tell a big difference between 720p and 1080i. That article that SDG posted is absolute bunk....you can definitely tell a difference between those two.

I guess it depends on your dispaly. My display accepts 1080p 24fps and I can tell the difference big time.between 1080i and 1080p 24 frames per second. The PQ is Brilliant displaying very smooth contour in action scenes....
1080i or 720p are just ok...I try to stay away from that as much as possible.
Directv is releasing there 1080p Satellite box next year which is great considering all hdtv displays will be 1080p 24 fps standard by end of 2008.

What kind of displays do you own?

Thanks Sling.

StilettoViper, I did not write the artical. That is one of many that I found, they all say the same thing. I just searched progressive verses interlaced before I bought my tv. This is not a Bias'ed subject that can be argued. P is better than I. By the way, I own a 40" 720p. I cant afford the best (1080p)

Anybody remember the real Atari computers thay they came out with to compete against the Apple II and the Commodore 64? I had an Atari 400 with a whopping 16K of memory and a cassette deck for storage. Later I upgraded to the Atari 800 with 64K and a Floppy drive. Man, those were the days

Sling -- that's actually the US version of the legendary Sinclair ZX81, which was introduced to us European buyers in, you guessed it, 1981, and was available both assembled and as a kit.

It was the first home computer anyone could afford.

Its successor, the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, came out the year after, and was my first home computer. It had a whopping 48Kb of memory and had a screen divided into a grid of 8x8 pixels, and within each 8x8 pixel group you could have no more than two colors.

It was pure magic. It came with an adventure game called The Hobbit, on cassette, and the accompanying paperback was the first English-language book I ever read. Well, tried to read...

You sure brought back a lot of memories with that picture.

How much of their programming will be in 1080p? The main reason I have the HD satellite receiver is for Sunday Ticket. Those won't be 1080p. Perhaps the premium movie channels and PPV?

Good Luck finding a 480i only DVD player that's recent.

People will sing the praises of 1080i right up to the moment they can afford 1080p.

I think Sonny meant to say his Atari was bought in 1981, not that he had those games already. I believe it was summer of '82 before I bought one. The technology was about 5 years old already and EVERYONE was still buying them. Incredible.

Asteroids and Space Invaders where the big games before the newer classics showed their face. I think Atari units sold mostly for Space Invaders.

The best arcade reproduction on the Atari 2600 was Berzerk. I LOVED that game. No voice, but the cheesy graphics were on the money.
