You'll see them... Even if the sales have been "disappointing", there's too much money in the world-wide syndication packages not to go through the process with DS9 and Voyager.

If sales were so bad, I don't think CBS Digital would be releasing The Andy Griffith Show, The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy or Shogun.

Admittedly there's less cost in re-transferring these shows, since they don't have to re-do SPFX and the like, but the opportunity to re-sell the shows for syndication is too great. (And by syndication, we're no longer talking over the air broadcasts... It includes package deals such as Netflix, Lovefilm and Amazon.)

Now NCIS: LA and CSI tanked, and they're not going back, but I personally believe it was too early in the Blu-ray cycle to release those series. Hell, I have a feeling they're just releasing Hawaii Five-O at his point because it's demo material to show off, and loyalty to the people who bought the original release that was initially a Best Buy exclusive.

Maybe if they didn't screw over the people in Canada and the States by charging so much, they would be happy withthe additional sales. Was buying them faithfully up until season 5 and spending $80 on sale to get them. Just bought season 5 from Amazon UK for $60 shipped and that isn't a sale price. Enterprise is no different. I know they go on sale in the States for a decent amount but here in Canada, either get them first day or expect to pay a forture for them as they don't drop often or for long. The fans want it, they just don't want to go into debt over it. Plus those could exclusive content things they did sure didn't impress fans either. The market is there - look how many people bought season 1 and that isn't even a good season. There must be a reason why fewer and fewer people are buying the seasons when each season was more popular than the last

On a more positive note, I think this is going to be a good set. Looks like they got Blalock to do some interviews which is interesting since she really didn't do a lot of them anyways and she was kind of vocal about it being cancelled.

They've priced Enterprise way too high. Season 2 of Enterprise was priced HIGHER than the TNG bd's and Enterprise didn't require near as much work to put on bd - so what gives with the higher price?! Enterprise should be $50 per season at most and season 2 was $70-75 on release day - depending on where it was purchased.

Will watch in HD on TV till they do.

Except this is incorrect.

DS9 used models throughout ALL seasons. New shots using 100% CG didn't occur until the episode of the 6th Season: "Favor The Bold". They still used many stock model shots for the last 2 seasons. The only time DS9 itself was CG was the final shot of the series finale.

Voyager's first 2 seasons were models. Midway through the 3rd season was the switch to CG.

Enterprise is the only STAR TREK series that was 100% CG for the VFX.

Just got my season 3 set a few minutes ago... I'll be going over the discs this week before I review them... so far looks to be about on par with previous seasons, maybe a teensy bit better

Yep, I only want season 4 and that's what I'm willing to pay. Pre-ordered it but it will never fall that low by release day.

Also note that season 4 has only 22 episodes---the least of any Star Trek season and that the episodes were shorter than any other Trek season---barely reaching 40 minutes.

15% less content for the same price!!!!!!!!"

Now that's marketing.

Actually, that honor goes to Season 2 of The Animated Series at only six episodes and around 24 minutes long each, give or take. But as far as live-action goes, Star Trek Voyager Season 1 has only 16 episodes, counting the pilot as two. Though technically, four more episodes were produced during S1, but they were held over and incorporated into Season 2 (you can tell by the TMP typeface of the credits). The episodes were "Projections," "Elogium," "Twisted" and "The 37's."

Thanks for reminding me about Voyager season 1 and the 20, er, 16 episodes.

As for TAS season 2---well, that's never gonna be sold as a set without being attached to season 1.
And surely, even Paramount wouldn't price the combined TAS seasons 1 and 2 at anywhere near what they ask for live-action season sets.

As for Voyager season 1---I personally would never pay more than $40 for the 16 episode season 1.

But I think season 4 of Enterprise kind of flies under the radar as far as most folks remembering it was so short. A real shame too, because the probable 2 to 4 episodes we would have gotten most likely would have been of the same high quality as the rest of the season.

TNG season 2 is also only 22 episodes, and one of those is a clip show!

What about Starship Down, during the fourth season? Memory alpha says that's the first episode to use CGI extensively... are there no more episodes like that until season 6?

Thought so, have been getting the Star Trek Starship model collection and they talk about shooting the DS9 and Defiant models so there was plenty of model work thought DS9's seven seasons, it was the later seasons where CG was used more and more that will need to be re-rendered or created from scratch.

Yes, it wasn't until they had to render huge fleets of ships that it was necessary to go all CG. They had to map all of the existing models: Jem'Hadar, Starfleet, Cardassian, Klingon. After that it was easy to go all CG because all the hard work of converting the models had been done.
Starship Down was a "one-off" and only done that way at the time because the Defiant and the Jem'Hadar ships had to move inside the CG atmosphere of the gas giant. They also did this with In Purgatory's Shadow when Garak's runabout is ambushed in the nebula.

It's easier to do shots with CG ships when you have a completely CG background: in Star Trek: Generations the Enterprise-B is CG whenever you see it with the Nexus ribbon. In Star Trek: First Contact the Enterprise-E is CG when it goes through the temporal vortex.

Call to Arms had a few CG ships sprinkled in the attacking fleet. Mainly the "long-winged" Jem'Hadar battlecruiser only seen a couple times in the series.

I'm pretty sure Voyager season 1 was priced less than the other seasons when they first came out. Which I think was how we came to be talking about 'short seasons'. So now that my old memory has been jogged....

Voyager season 1.................. 16 episodes 45 minute episodes
Deep Space Nine season 1........20 episodes
Enterprise season 4.................22 episodes 40 minutes
Next Generation season 2........22 episodes 45 minutes
Enterprise season 3.................24 episodes 40 minutes
Original series season 3...........24 episodes 50 minutes

On DVD, if I'm not mistaken, Voyager season 1 was the only of these that had a price reduced from the other seasons.

I sort of got the impression that when they released season TWO of Next Gen that they pumped up the bonus materials to compensate for the smaller season-----3 versions of Measure of a Man--with commentary and the big cast reunion roundtable.
I'm pretty sure no other TV episode of Trek has ever been released in an extended version and if I recall rightly, season 1 of Next gen had NO commentaries and was fairly thin on extras.

So I give them credit for adding the extended episode and several commentaries to boost the short season.
As for the 'clip show' !!, well you might as well call it a 21 episode season.

You know what I think would have been nice for an extra on Ent season 4 is a in-depth look at what season 5 would have featured. I've read many an article on the ideas they had for the season 5. Plus any scripts or outlines that they didn't produce for season 4 or 5.

Paraquoted from The Digital Bits:

"For you Star Trek: Enterprise fans today...you may recall that way back in March, when I first reviewed Star Trek: Enterprise – Season One on Blu-ray, I was invited to suggest ideas for content that I – as a longtime fan of the show – would love to see on future seasons. One of my biggest suggestions was a reunion/roundtable discussion with the show’s writing staff, talking about all their ideas for the show and where the series might have gone had it been given a full seven seasons. So then yesterday, series co-creator Brannon Braga tweeted [a] picture [of] the very Writer’s Reunion I suggested, about to be shot, thus making me very, very happy. What’s more, VAM producers Roger Lay, Jr. and Robert Meyer Burnett tell me that lots more discussion of “season five and beyond” ideas will be included in the documentaries on the Season Four BD set.
