The 5.1 mix is also supposed to be real good, especially considering Anchor Bay's DVD had some issues, but to be honest, despite the many times I've seen it, I didn't catch on to anything different on the UK BD, heh. Guess I'd need the problems of the DVD mix pointed out to me.

It's 2013 now.
that's step 1.

But it sounded like it's a possibility, and I sure hope it'll be a full 4K restoration.
Well, you have a few factors on the DEMONS steelbook set:

(1) does it really cost $6.00 per item, even if you order more than one? They can't do media mail?

(2) DEMONS and DEMONS 2 are okay at best as movies. Yeah, they're entertaining.. but pretty cheesy. SUSPIRIA on the other hand?

So HELL yeah Don.. do a steelbook with some killer artwork comparable to the DEMONS steelbook, or a digibook or SOMEthing special for this. And yes, a 4K restoration is a must, as this is one of those "one of a kind" movies you just can't half-ass. Just don't kill us on the shipping.

My only trepidation is:

Quote:
Tom Burton, whose film restoration credits include Ridley Scott’s BLADE RUNNER.
Is this the same guy who gave the BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT that BS stereotypical "teal" wash? Granted, Ridley could have told him to do it, but still....

Don said on their facebook that they actually might! He's going to look into the price difference and see from there.
I have a feeling that this is going to be another all out release as they're going to be paying for the scan themselves and because licensing is even more expensive than the Demons releases.
At the same time though they'll probably have standard releases at the same time since this will sell a LOT more copies than either of the Demons films.
Either way I'm too excited for this!!!

Does Synapse limit their production to 3000 copies and all that nonsense? Like TT does?

So far they have on the Demons steelbooks only.
Can't see them releasing these in a limited number though as its such a big title.

Yes, Suspiria is a bit cheesy if we're being honest here. It looks great, has great atmosphere, and is a classic for horror fans that deserves a spot on one's shelf...but it's cheesy, scriptwise if you think about the
[Show spoiler]"counting the number of steps" theory in the movie, bad dubbing and many of the characters, especially the blind guy. Even in terms of execution, the dog scene is unconvincing, and the bat scene is unintentionally funny.
With all these flaws, I still love it and would much rather shell out $45 for this than Demons. If that's the route they take, I may very well bite on it. Great news for Suspiria fans, though!

This. Suspiria probably could sell out nearly as fast or faster than Christine, Night of the Living Dead (1990), Fright Night and Body Double did for Twilight Time if Synapse went the limited to 3,000 route with it.

I'm very happy to see Suspiria announced. I have every faith that it will be done properly, whether that be with a 2K scan or a 4K scan. Hopefully the latter is possible, even if it's facilitated financially by something like Kickstarter. Roll on 2014/15!

The Definitive Document of the Dead Blu-Ray is limited to 1,500 copies and Intruder with the exclusive Workprint DVD-R was limited to 500.

So I guess we'll finally get a great HD transfer with the original color timing. But we also need the original audio mix!!! This is just as important. Especially with this film. The sound design and the music make this film is what makes this film so scary.

from what I've read about the various home video releases of this, the Fox Lorber 'VHS version' had the most accurate, close to the original theatrical mix than any of it's digital counterparts.

You're so cool man, I agree getting cool collectible packaging for your money is stupid, Id rather have a flimsy eco case with a gaping hole in the middle so my disc gets exposed to the elements

There's really no need to insult someone who has a differing opinion than you.

Personally, I will never buy ANY steelbook or digibook. The only exception I've made was Return of the Living Dead UK and I threw the steelbook out and put the disc in the US case.

Eco cases make me want to punch something.
