Hmm, seems kinda interesting. I hope there's monsters otherwise I don't understand why they'd use the Mist name.
I absolutely loved the movie but the ending IS awful. That last minute or so is just stupid. It should have ended with them driving off. At least it would have been left open to interpretation. I don't care how anyone tries to interpret it the way it turned out...you do NOT give up and kill yourselves just because there's monsters invading the town....You keep fighting and find out what's happening. It's one the few moments that's legitimately angered me about a movie. Last edited by Wildcat2000; 04-17-2017 at 04:58 AM. |

Still think it's an awful ending to have the characters flat out give up and not even try to find out what's happening or if there's is other survivors. It negates their will to escape the grocery store. |

I don't like Stephen King but I love the Mist movie and love it's ending.
The characters did everything they could and went as far as they could until the car ran out of gas, truly beyond hope. Also, they did find out what was happening before that. |

It would not have been bad at all if it had been setup better like I said earlier. In a car like that it will only take a few hours to run out of gas. So they drive around for two or three hours and then give up and shoot themselves as soon as the tank is empty? lol

It wasn't just about the car running out of gas. They lost hope when they saw the impossibly tall creature.

There's a lot of movies where "all hope is lost".
If they would have just driven off into into the unknown, looked for a way to survive or anything besides giving up that would have been that. End of story. Nobody would have suggested they kill themselves because all hope was lost. Yet some people defend it just because it did end that way. Agree to disagree then. |

YOU would never give up. I believe you. You would fight on. The people in the movie chose to kill themselves. The ending is realistic because some people would make that choice. Not you, but others would. Proof that not all people think the same is available in this poll. The VAST majority of voters loved the movie's ending. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=131083 |

So did anyone watch this? I watched it last night, and about the most positive thing I can say about it is it's better than Under the Dome. It's not great, but it's good enough for summer TV that I will give it a couple more episodes. I can already see a couple of twists coming a mile away however.

Happy endings have been done too much in Hollywood. Someone had the guts to change the movies ending around and it make it a shocker.
Is it any different to "The Thing"? "They Live" stopped on the tipping point. Thelma and Louise gave up! But most of the time, the hero wins the day. Not every movie needs a Schwarzenegger or a Sigourney Weaver. Did "Descent" have a better American ending where the one lady survives? Or did the original UK ending have more impact? The only reason why these movies ended the way they did is because the actors/directors agreed that was the END! If Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Angela Jolie was in any of these movies they would have won. Even if the odds were a million to 1, even if a God came out of the sky and saved them, even if a mountain landed on their head. They would have won. And that is where Hollywood fails in my humble opinion especially where those kinds of actors are concerned. Usually the types that have blu ray/DVD cover rights on the front cover. Matt Damon, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie are all stars that never die, that have image rights so powerful no matter what significance the movie has, they have to be on the cover taking up the whole image, usually with their name plastered all over it.` |
