£12.99 in HMV. Looking forward to watching. Am keen to see how this movie works the story. I'm glad it's significantly shorter than the original, I did feel that was a bit overlong.

No, no slip for this one. I was going to pick it up but they can swivel now, hardly any of the extras have been ported over. Forget it.

What the hell, that's really annoying about the extras, i hadn't even noticed. I know they weren't exactly extensive on the US release but it would have been nice to have them.

It's an ongoing trend. The worst offender though are DVD only releases, which is why I import more nowadays.

I was pleasantly surprised by this, and really enjoyed it. I thought Copley was great too, shame everyone thinks he's so terrible in this. His performance creeped me out, he's so detached and mannered, very unique. I liked the alterations they made to the story and once again, the hammer fight was brilliantly done.

I enjoyed it aswell. Glad i ignored the negative reviews. Would prob think it was even better if i hadn't seen the original :-)

I got this in Fopp for £5 yesterday so for that price I didn't care if it wasn't a masterpiece.

It's a solid thriller but the twist isn't as jaw dropping is in the original film.

Brolin is good as the boorish drunk at the start but kinda seems on autopilot through the rest of the film. I'm a very big fan of him but this isn't his best work.

Spike Lee has done much better than this too although it does look well polished and it has some great cinematography.

The fight scene is great, I thought Sharlto Copley was laughably bad and almost ruins the film though. Was a shame that Michael Imperioli didn't get more screen time.

It's clearly not as good as the original but I suspect some people on here are too young to remember or realise that Spike Lee used to be one of the best and boldest directors in Hollywood so if he wants to do a perhaps unnecessary remake then good luck to him.

How do you think the 2013 version would be taken by someone who thought the original was just such rubbish (including that lame hammer fight), but keeps thinking about giving the remake a look as he likes Spike Lee and thinks Brolin is a great actor? I seriously thought the original was like a story where the writer sat down and thought to himself "let's see, I want to make a movie where the main character ends up accidentally boning his daughter, but I want it to come as a surprise to him and the audience, and have them sympathize with him"

using your logic you will just be watching a film where Spike Lee has sat down and thought "let's do a remake of that film where the original writer sat down and thought to himself "let's see, I want to make a movie where the main character ends up accidentally boning his daughter, but I want it to come as a surprise to him and the audience, and have them sympathize with him"....i highly doubt you will like it:-) its a remake lol

You are probably right, but I can think of a few remakes where I didn't like the original and love the remakes. Oddly mainly films originally done by Wes Craven... Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes.

I liked the remake, in fact there were some parts of it I liked a lot more than the original.
