$20 RRP is pretty high for a single disc Mill Creek title. They usually go with $10 or $15. Their 2 disc Gamera Trilogy is $20, so hopefully these will be 2 discs as well.

I don't think they are gonna cram them all on one disc. They aren't Echo Bridge...

I believe he's mistakenly referring to this 2-disc, 3 film release: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Gamer...Blu-ray/27237/

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 2-disc releases. Four films on one disc sounds pretty scary to me. That's something I would expect from Full Moon, lol.

This. They're definitely a step-up from EB. I expect 2 discs per set.

I never got the shout factory versions so I'm pretty much in no matter how low the quality is, I've never seen any of these movies in their original aspect ratios. Currently all I have of the "classic" movies are those cheap DVD collections which seemed to be pan & scan VHS transfers. And the MST3K Vs Gamera set, of course

I'll stick with my Shout Factory DVDs of original eight films. I have the four more recent movies on Bluray already.

Why do they keep re-releasing the same films over and over? How about some love for the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy?

Re-releasing the same films over and over? These 8 films were never released on Blu-ray in N.A., so I don't know what you're talking about.

The question is will these be an improvement over SFs DVDs image-wise..I know that Mill Creek wont have the extras that were on the DVDs

I would also like to see all 3 Rebirth of Mothra films on blu ray. Part 3 hasn't even had an official release here.

Yeah, not on Blu, but the titles are fairly available (goodness knows they've had plenty of public domain releases). I guess I'm glad to see any attention paid to kaiju films, but it's a little aggravating to know there are other titles that need a good first release, when these are on their umpteenth release.

This is the first time the Showa Gamera movies have had a blu ray release - The Gamera movies on DVD have had a few releases and that part of your point is taken..and no one can deny you of that point

However this is for the blu ray releases of the original Gamera series..this is a first in the USA. Same titles, same turtle, different format.

Personally id like to see The Magic Serpent get a better DVD or blu ray release..same for Gappa - time for a blu ray release

It won't surprise me if these each are single BD50 discs. Remember, the Gamera: GOTU and AOL disc was only 25GB, and both actually looked pretty damn decent compression-wise. AND those had more audio options than these will have. Would they take a hit quality-wise? A bit, sure. But if the compression is as sound as the previous 25GB double feature, and the price point fair (I expect each of these to go for around $10, MSRP be damned), that is a perfectly fine package.

Hey guys, I forwarded to Mill Creek some of the comments and concerns posted here and on other forums. Here is what they had to say about the number of films per Blu-ray disc...

There should be no concern with us including four films on a Blu-ray disc. We’re using dual-layered Blu-rays and achieving the highest possible bitrate (with room to spare) to accommodate less than 6 hours of content. They’re going to look better than anyone has ever seen before.

...and the lack of English dubs...

Because we did not have access to dub tracks for all films, we chose to just use original language tacks and subtitles to be completely consistent. One thing to note about the subtitles is that we have re-QCed them and fans should find some of the errors corrected when compared to the previous releases.

I do know that Kadokawa does not have materials for the English dubs of the Showa Gamera movies, so it would be up to a licensee to track down usable materials if they wanted to included them on a DVD or Blu-ray.

1-disc? Wow..so my praise of them in comparison to EB was undeserved then.

They'll likely look perfectly fine, just like the first two Kaneko films did. Don't start clutching your pearls just yet.

I expected two discs per set as well but I'm not going to complain as they will make them look great.
