I hope they don't pair them together but maybe it's not "economically viable" otherwise.

Aww I really wanted Godzilla 2000. I still have the VHS, I hope they use that art cause it is badass. It would be amazing if it were a slipcover but I doubt any of the Godzilla films on Blu-ray will have slips (except the two remakes from '98 and 2014).

Yeah, they want to save money this way I guess. As long as they look and sound good I'm fine with it, one thing I do like about double features is that they save shelf space. Especially helpful when you have as many movies as in the Godzilla series.

Don't worry, it's coming, I can't imagine they won't release the remaining ones. Godzilla 2000 is one I really want as well, mostly because the DVD only had the US version.

Yeah, that would've been preferable really, like what Classic Media did with the movies they own when they released them on DVD.

If that's true and Sony are pairing movies up for release, it makes absolutely no sense NOT to pair-up GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA (2002) and TOKYO S.O.S. (2003), since they are the only two Millennium films directly connected to each other.

This actually makes a ton of sense. Release these titles before the release of the new film and then release the more popular ones down the line around the time that the blu will be coming out for the new film. Whoever has the rights to the rest of the films will probably take a similar route and put them out on blu around the release of the new films blu to capitalize off of the sale of it.

This sounds pretty bad. Double pairing? Not even in order? I'm reminded of those James Bond dvd box sets a couple of years ago. and worse, not even all of them, including the best of them all (GMK)?
I'll just wait for a possible box set maybe down the line at a reasonable price. Too bad Mill Creeks didn't ended up with those.

A commentary for GMK on blu ray is a dream. One can only hope!

Godzilla's been fairing pretty badly on blu ray. Outside of Gojira by Criterion, obviously. Classic Media isn't releasing a single one of their titles on Blu ray (only re-releasing their dvds once more...). Universal is laughing at the fan with such an awful release of KKvG. Media blasters, while doing a good job on Destroy all monsters, never released Megalon on blu ray and had to discontinue Destroy altogether. Sector 23 is only releasing 3 out of the 5 movies we were hoping they owned, without a single extras. And it would seem its going to be a downgrade from the wonderful transfer Sony released on dvd years ago (why would I upgrade to an inferior transfer then?). And now, Sony is possibly releasing their whole thing in pairs out of orders? And omitting GMK? Brrr.

And yet, Gamera will have ALL of his movies out in their original language at good prices on blu ray by April. With a ton of extra on the 90's trilogy. GAMERA! (I do love Gamera, mind you. :P It just seems really weird that Gamera gets such better treatment than Godzilla).

We're talking about Sony here. If you remember, back in the dvd days, Sony omitted to release one of their 5 Heisei movies (Vs Mechagodzilla 2), only to release it years later. They also never bothered with any of the original Japanese languages on their first 4 Heisei releases. And they never bothered with a single extras. Same with their Godzilla 2000 release.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up messing it up once more with their blu ray releases. They are better than Universal, mind you, but certainly not by much, IMO.

Sector 23 has already confirmed they are using Toho's transfers rather than Sony's for their releases. I think you can find the info somewhere on sci-fi Japan (sorry about not having a link, it's pretty late right now and I don't feel like digging), but I can guarantee you it has been confirmed.

Toho's transfers aren't half as bad as people say, though. I just recently watched for the first time my blu ray of Destroy all monsters (what a great movie, still my second favorite Godzilla even after all those years!) and I though it looked great. I was pleasantly surprised by it, especially after having read a lot of negative comments about it. If that's how most of Toho's HD transfers looks like, I'll be pretty happy with them. Except of course for the superior showa releases by Sony, obviously.

An absolute classic: the last film with Godzilla as an outright villain.

Definitely one of the upper tier Godzilla movies but I prefer 1992's Godzilla vs. Mothra.

Oh, ok, I didn't know they were going with the Toho masters, that all makes sense now. Thanks for the info. Are they so bad that an HD version of it will look worse than the upscaled Sony DVD? I've only seen the HD versions of a couple of the newer movies.

Well, like I already said above, I though the destroy all monsters blu ray looked pretty good. So I'm sure the same will apply to the other ones. It's just that the sony ones looked incredible on dvd and even better tha toho's prints, so I don't see much reason to upgrade.

If this rumor's true, it's a make it or break for me if it includes the Heisei series in their original aspect ratio and includes the Japanese language with English subtitles.

I already have all 28 films on DVD(and the Criterion of Gojira & the Destroy All Monsters BD; Biollante, Megalon and Return of Godzilla are imports) but, if this is true I would probably get Godzilla Vs. Mothra, King Ghidorah, Destoroyah and Space Monster because I only have Sony's crappy double feature discs of them which only have the English dubs(plus Mothra and King Ghidorah are pan and scan).

Seeing as these Sony releases are all doubles, I imagine that they will be Mill Creek, who is also doing the Gamera releases, so you guys may all get lucky.
