I'm sorry to hear that, but I am absolutely not surprised. This title seems to be a dead duck, in terms of a possible release.

Isn't that old news? Cult epic said something about this being axed awhile ago. Sucks because I was looking forward to it.

It might be. I had read rumors about it possibly being cancelled, but this was the first time I had seen Cult Epics themselves acknowledge that.

This film seems to come with massive baggage. I knew the guy who owned the briefly-active Subversive Cinema label, and he battled mightily to release the film. Like everybody else, he finally hit a wall with it and gave up.

I hope someone picks this up....was really excited to hear it was going to be released and it took awhile for Cult Epics to finally acknowledge they were not going to be releasing it and for that I thank them at least for those of us who have been asking on the Facebook page for quite some time. Have no idea who the owners think would possibly give them more money if that is the issue. If anyone knows anything please share.

I really hope this can get out some day. It would be great to get an HD version of this to watch. I haven't seen the film in ages but I remember enjoying it the last time I watched it (~10 years ago).

I feel like if the producer(s) are holding out for more money they are making a huge mistake. Most films like this do have a market, although in all likelihood much smaller than the rights holders think. I would definitely be will to pay more for proper HD release of this.

Synapse Films is proud to announce work has begun on MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH, directed by Rene Daalder. Rene has completed and supervised a beautiful HD transfer for us, and we are in the process of locating the original audio sound elements (stored at Paramount, evidently, so we're working with their legal department as fast as we can to get access) and doing some additional work at Reliance Mediaworks/Prime Focus for picture restoration (the master was created from a negative element, but were making it the best we can make it!). Extras are still to be coordinated, so no further info on additional supplemental material is available at this time (Rene is busy now working on a new film, so we are waiting for him). We'll give more info on the release, as we have it. We may be able to post some sample frames of the new HD master in the near future right here, on the Synapse Films Facebook page.

Whaaaaat?!? Now that is a surprise announcement! I don't want to get my hopes up too much given this movie's history, but if Synapse can pull this off I will be very excited.

it's crazy how much HEATHERS lifted from this film.

one of my all time cult favorites - I really hope this is happening!!

"I'll believe it when I see it."

That mantra has lasted me through roughly four different labels claiming that they were going to release this film, including Subversive Cinema.

At their normal pace, I'd expect a release from Synapse to take about two years.

Call me a cynic, but I've had my hopes dashed too many times on this title.

I'll believe it when I see it.
