I think this entire Arnold`s films discussion doesn`t really contribute anything new to a Sabotage Bluray release thread

Therefore here`s the trade ad! Seems the artwork has changed!?

[Show spoiler]
In my opinion it has changed for the worst! I hate that Arnie is photoshopped so bad on the US theatrical poster.

EDIT: I am pretty sure this one found on Amazon is the official cover art.

After that scene ended, that kid should've stepped into frame and shouted "This is a movie!!" lol.

I'm not gonna go into the details on this, but there are so many things about True Lies that just screams to me the idea and execution of the film went something like this:

Arnold has his first real failure when Last Action Hero bombs in '93, while Stallone finally delivers a one-two punch with the double success of Cliffhanger and Demolition Man the same year. Arnold, clearly still big on his ego, decides he can't let Sly finally take his throne. So he called Cameron up (while Cameron was probably doing some deep sea underwater stuff in preparation for Titanic) and told him that he can't let Sly beat him. Cameron sighs and says "Call me back in 3 days". So Cameron lazily rushed out an action movie script with all the tropes (as well as outdated racist villains), and they shot it on the quick just to make Arnold happy. Maybe Cameron owed Arnold a favor.
This is a fun story but it's almost the exact opposite of the truth. Arnold was very reluctant to do another action comedy after LAH tanked. It took quite a bit of convincing from Cameron to get him to do it. Arnold only took the gig because he felt he owed it to Cameron to trust in his instincts over his own.

Do you have any old magazine interviews or w/e confirming this? Jokes aside, I'd love to read it.

I am 85% certain I read this in the feature they did in the Premiere Summer movie preview for 1994. The article could also have been in the following month's issue (I subscribed back then so I got them all).

It's stuck in my memory because Arnold decided that audiences didn't like him doing comedy based on Last Action Hero even though he had had quite a bit of success in comedic films up until that point (As an aside: I now view almost all of his performances as essentially comedic even in films like Total Recall and the like, despite the fact that as a comedic actor he's a humorless and one-note straight man - probably why it works so consistently well).

Anyway, Cameron (and I'm obviously paraphrasing) was like "No, man. When you fail at something, you should get right back at it." Which didn't seem logical to Arnold at all, but he figured Cameron had never steered him wrong before so he got on board.

I think you've pretty much summed up why I flat out refuse to watch Arnold's comedies (save for maybe Jingle All The Way during Christmas time). Arnold is funny enough in his action movies. Arnold was the end-all be-all for me growing up, but I probably haven't watched Twins and Kindergarten Cop in their entirety since I was about 10. I saw Junior a few times when I was like 12 and thought it was absolute shyte.

Actually, I'm half wrong about "Twins". My dad and I had an Arnold movie night recently but my dad would only agree to it if we watched an Arnold movie he liked. I knew this meant it was gonna be one of the comedies. So, first we watched Raw Deal (figure if he's gonna end up making me watching one I don't like, I'm doing that to him as well. Raw Deal is one of Arnold's under-rated films that I love pretty much as I do his classics, but my Dad, like most Arnold fans, would rather watch a "better" Arnie film instead). Then when it was time to watch "Twins" I drank a 6 pack of Carona on an empty stomach. I barely remember anything after the first 20 minutes lol.

Google to see how the Uzi's firing mechanism is designed and you will see that if an Uzi is dropped it will most likely go off. It's a pretty dangerous machine gun. Now is it probable that a dropped Uzi will take out 3 or 4 bad guys? Not really. Is it possible at all? Absolutely! And Curtis was hiding behind metal railing, etc.

Remember, Cameron doesn't make amateur mistakes like that

No he doesn't. Just teal-afying the colors his classic films and changing the sound effects that are sub-par (Dirty Harry's 44 Magnum sound effect FTMFW)

Was denied seeing this in theatres as it inexplicably wasn't shown here in Canada. Will blind buy this for sure, Arnold is the man and this looks pretty good.

I know this may be a mistake by Amazon but they have listed the runtime as 220 minutes (3 hours 40 minutes) which is roughly the original runtime before it got butchered for it's theatrical release. If it is indeed a mistake it is a huge coincidence.

I don't think I can take 220 minutes of this film.

I am very interested in seeing the original cut, nearly 4 hours is long though.

It's very long. Who knows though, it might improve on the theatrical cut.

Film is already a 10 for me, but I eagerly await the deleted scenes.
