Nice! I think this one exceeded a lot of people's expectations for the movie and the 3D. Definitely surpassed mine.

A sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 is said to be in early planning after the success of this one. Glad to hear it.

3D strong here in a lot of the movie. Pretty awesome.

Cool

This movie was number one for a few weeks I'd say in the US and did well in ticket sales. A lot of the critics missed the point of the film and clearly weren't fans of the Turtles to begin with. Some critics were fans and they enjoyed this one.
So far, made a worldwide total of $300,247,000.
$174,647,000 in North America.

Though not every joke hit the mark, the movie still held up story wise and was a nice adventure for the turtles. Looked awesome and well shot for the action scenes.

I'm glad to hear a TM Ninja Turtle sequel is confirmed and set for 2016 if I remember. June 3, 2016.

I think it could've made more in the US. I actually feel like it underperformed domestically, the sequel will probably see a dip in ticket sales if current trends are any indication.

Considering its theater competition, even if it could have done better in sales, this is still very good. The 3D is some of the strongest I've seen in the theaters this year for the CGI characters.

It performed WAY above analysts' expectations. Back in June, Box Office Magazine wasn't even expecting it to reach $100 million in its entire run. It's currently just below $175 million.

With just the Bay name recognition alone it should've destroyed all competition. On top of that it's the freaking ninja turtles!

Two good points.

Keeping in mind, the Michael Bay connection was actually part of the challenge with many fans not willing to see the film. A lot of diehard fans were angry with Bay in the beginning I remember reading, stating they felt he was messing up the Turtle's story and going to produce a bad film, in part for naming it "Ninja Turtles" which bothered the fans. Changes were said to be made to appeal to the fans, which no doubt helped.

A big part of the success were the kids getting their parents to take them to see this one. Hopefully they'll still be fans in 2 years when the sequel hits.

For a Turtles movie, this is probably the best one I've seen over the years IMO for a number of reasons.

Well Bay should just keep his mouth shut and let the people who know how to do proper PR do their jobs.

Surprising to hear the UK didn't get this one yet but a good sign that the movie will make more money in theaters yet.

-------------
In the original cartoon series, the Turtles were very short, smaller in height than April O'Neil even. In the movie, they were much taller, which is not a big deal at all, but something I noticed afterwards.

Yeah, the introduction till the end credits had plenty of strong 3D shots, among the human converted medium to high medium shots. I don't recall any mild 3D shots in this one.

Went and saw an advance screening of this last night here in New Zealand (officially launches here on Thursday)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I actually think it blew Guardians of the Galaxy off the screen - the 3d is superb - the whole "mountainside" scene is awesome.... well worth a watch..AND I cant imagine it in 2d!

I was surprised that the cinema wasnt overly full - this was the first 3d screening of turtles and I kinda expected it to be packed out - in saying that the marketing has been low key around movies lately. The audience was a mixed age bracket, and I did joke that a few "Dads" had brought their kids as an excuse to see the re-incarnation of their childhood cartoon hero's.

Bay's involvement was obvious - Shredder could have very easily appeared in Transformers and probably would kick their butts to the curb too - the action was quick-paced, there was debris flying in all direction (and i must say it was refreshing to see by-standers being collateral damage when things fell from above) And that darn pizza scene...all I wanted after leaving the cinema was to find the hugest slice of pizza (The other half didnt agree - so pizza was not on the menu for dinner)

The story itself, while stable (dont wanna give too much away here either) kinda reminded me a lot of "The amazing spider-man" plot-wise. It did however stay true enough to the original cartoon series to not destroy the history of the "Turtle's" Let's hope that continues on with the next installment and that things dont take some weird turn for the worse......Oh yeah lets finish by sayin it's a turtlely awesome 3d experience...

The 3D was definitely well done in this movie. I've watched every 3D release thus far for the year and TMNT would have to be in my top 3 for sure. They really put a lot of thought into it and it seemed a lot of shots were designed with 3D in mind. Something which doesn't often happen with post-prod 3D.

Really wanna watch it again.

So far it seems everybody here agrees the Turtles' 3D was strong most of the way.

Nice. Some of the best 3D of 2014 for TMNTurtles, agreed. The snow scene was awesome in 3D, yes.

Did this just hit theaters in your area I wonder?

I watched it 2 times in the theaters and i am proud of it
The Snow scene where Donatello blasts into the truck is phenomenal 3D and also the tower scene in the city where it collapses is very strong to.

Turtles and TF4,300 RoaE, Edge of Tomorrow, Guardians was probably the strongest 3D releases this year and i can't wait to watch them at home when the BD 3D arrives

are there others that were this strong. I also liked SC 2 A Dame to Kill For it really popped in 3D
