This release tells us A LOT about the TT model.

I can remember all the fanboys stating SOO CONFIDENTLY that TT would not re-release any of their titles, and that these releases would be our only chance to own these films. Yet I have said from day one that if they sold they would re-release.

My how times have changed... These amazing collectables are losing value rapidly.

Default Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) New 4K Restoration from Twilight Time

Now we are going to get comments like "I knew that they would re release this title! I told you so!" for the next 3 years. It'll be a fun ride.

Yes but not only that - they may re-release other titles with BETTER image quality than the first "uber collectable" release.

This is amusing. Twilight Time are out-Twilight-Time-ing themselves.

Releases coming again, releases possibly getting re-released early, releases getting more than 3,000 copies.

Having said that, if this is what it takes to get more great 4K sourced Blu-rays, then, so be it.

Still, twice-timing-Twilight-Timers...priceless.

I've sold way too many old/ridiculously out-of-date DVDs to discount the idea that there is truly a buyer for everything. On the other hand, if you're looking to pocket an extra $30-$100 over the original price, now is probably the time to sell.
Well, I already placed an ad in sites, but no I'm not looking to benefit from the price.
I thought this:
-if the new 4K restoration is good, then all's well, I'll buy that one.
-if it isn't and it's worse, then all's well again, this wasn't a Blu-ray I NEEDED to have badly anyway..

I was under the impression that Fright Night came from a 4k scan already.

I'd like to see a link to this claim. I think you're confusing the "they probably wouldn't get released elsewhere" with your claim that people said they'd never get released again. That wasn't an argument used. The first one was.

No, I had that discussion several times over the last few years on this site. And no I cannot be bothered searching my old posts, but I am sure several here remember these claims.

popeflick's question was about the "they'll never be released again" claim you attributed to other posters, not about your own claim. Are you sure that anyone claimed a given title would never be released again, whether by TT or the studio?

Because of the expense of it, and because of what Fox has already done to restore this movie that's now, if true, an almost complete waste of time and money. Over a decade ago, Fox did a photo-chemical restoration of JOURNEY from YCM black & white separation masters. The resulting transfer is what you saw in the DVD release in 2004 and the TT Blu-ray release from just a couple years ago. At around the time of the TT BD release, I recall Nick Redman saying in threads either here or on Facebook that this was the best we could hope for from Fox for this title for the foreseeable future -- like until the next decade or something. I knew that as long as Fox still had the original camera negatives from JOURNEY, which they apparently did but was too faded in one or more of its EastmanColor layers to yield a properly color-balanced interpositive, that the negatives could still be scanned and digitally rebuilt to yield a nearly perfect result. From what I'm reading here now, this is in fact what has happened? This must have cost Fox many thousands of dollars to do, possibly into the six figures. I would have thought Fox wouldn't have this worth doing because there wasn't the possibility of enough sales, but maybe the fact that the TT BD sold-out changed their minds, but I still find that unbelievable.

Anyway, I hope this is true because I'd love to own a better transfer of this film on Blu-ray, and with 4K the coming thing, maybe Fox is doing this with an eye on the further video horizon. And while I'm writing this, I want to say, Where's a 4K restoration of the 1968 PLANET OF THE APES Fox? GET TO IT ALREADY!

It makes sense that fox is going through TT because of the upfront payment for the restoration work. They don't stand to lose anything.

I said in a previous post, I'd be srprised if Fox didn't also release Journey in various regions. I think that's the only way they'd recoup the costs of the restoration.. The next TT release alone wouldn't cover it

+1 PLEASE don't smurf any more classic films Fox.
