I'm mostly just bitter about Darkman, which went from a "day one!" to something that I have, to this day, not purchased, seeing how ugly the transfer is. It stands out to me because regardless of why they redid The Shadow, even if it meant playing blatant favorites, I desperately wish they could've re-transferred Darkman instead.

The only one I've seen is Beyond Thunderdome. When it wa on the television. Many years ago. And only parts of if, mainly just the cage of "to men enter, one man leaves"

I've been waiting for a price drop on the existing version, but now that Scream is issuing their own edition I think I'll wait to see what they have in store!

Depending on what's on it, I'll bite. Hopefully new interviews with miller and Gibson.

I'm happy with my trilogy set but I want Scream Factory to amaze me. I want to be surprised and get a DEFINITIVE disc that would make all MAD MAX fans say "I need this". Simply put, you guys need Miller's and Gibson's involvement.

It's going to take some important extras for me to double dip on this, it's a shame Warner Bros. holds the rights to the other two. I would have liked to have seen better extras for those two rather than the first one, which in my opinion I have always thought was the weakest in the series.

Have to say this and Escape from NY are the surprises for me. Escape I am more than looking forward to and will no doubt plop down my money again for one of my all time favorites.
But that BD needs an upgrade features-wise. I see no need to upgrade the current Mad Max BD. It's beautiful and (semi) loaded with features, has the original audio in lossless or the English redub in mono (who wants to go back to that though?). Besides the pop-up track not being on BD, the combo pack is more than enough for me.

We meet again bigdaddy!
I don't hold Mad Max in as high regard as EFNY, but it's right up there in the conversation! With that said, I have to problem dipping on this...especially after seeing that Fury Road trailer last night...
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I will get this, if anything, to support SF in their efforts.
I wonder if SF will attempt to go after The Road Warrior and Thunderdome? I would dip on those titles as well...heck maybe even sell my trilogy tin. Then, perhaps 20 years from now SF can do Fury Road.

Now that you've mentioned Fury Road (trailer looks amazing), that's hit the nail on the head re: Shout! licensing the first movie. I dunno what the timing of the release will be like but it's clear we're in cash-in country with this one. (And EFNY is simply another in their line of Carpenter flicks, I think them getting The Thing at some point is a distinct possibility.)

Still, like I said before, if they can get some input from George Miller that'd be awesome, and a lossless encode of the Aussie mono mix (which is only 224 kb/s on the MGM BD) would be great as well. The 5.1 Aussie mix is about as inoffensive as remixes get, and is already in lossless on the MGM after all, but I'd love to have the mono mix with a few more bits behind it.

I must have been seeing into the future, because when they re-released the trilogy last year as a set and as individual packages, I only picked up the individual Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. I still have yet to pick up Mad Max, so I guess I'll probably be getting this.

Alternatively, a remake of EFNY is in the works, with Jason Statham as one of the names rumored to be taking on the role of Snake.

I was going to do the same thing when the tin set came out. Didn't initially want it but caved and bought the tin. I regret it now - it's rather ugly and awkward to display since it doesn't have any labeling on the side. I almost want to get rid of it altogether and now with Scream releasing the first film I'm tempted to sell it.

That idea's been rattling around for years, remember when they said that Gerry Butler was in the running for Snake? I'd rather have him than Statham.

Yep, and I think Jeremey Renner was talked about, which is kind of hard to imagine, but I think he could pull it off.
Butler, so far, would've been my ideal choice. I sure hope it happens, as I'd really like to see what they come up with.

Now is Fury Road a remake or a continuation?

The latter. It's Mad Max 4.

It's a quasi-sequel, since it's set between Road Warrior & Thunderdome

Well, it's name when announced was Mad Max 4, but if you want to call it Mad Max 2.5, I'm down for that.
