Default Mad Max (1979) (Collector's Edition)

Quote:
**MAD MAX (Collector’s Edition) Update! **

We’re really excited about our upcoming blu-ray release of the original MAD MAX film and now can finally give you some details on it ever since we announced the title way back in July. We appreciate your patience and hope the wait will have been worth it!

- The incredible newly-commissioned artwork you see here (from artist Paul Shipper) is final and approved. (Purists take note: The original theatrical poster image will be on the reverse.)

- Full list of extras are still forthcoming but we can confirm today that we have an all-new exclusive interview with star Mel Gibson as one of them!
[Show spoiler]Collector's Edition just announced at Comic Con.

Quote:
In the ravaged near-future, a savage motorcycle gang rules the road. Terrorizing innocent civilians while tearing up the streets, the ruthless gang laughs in the face of a police force hell-bent on stopping them. But they underestimate one officer: Max Rockatansky (Gibson). And when the bikers brutalize Max's best friend and family, they send him into a mad frenzy that leaves him with only one thing left in the world to live for - revenge!

Akijama....I've run out of "thank yous"....so: THNAK YOU!!!

What an unexpected surprise, this is! I didn't even know this was on their radar! I already have the trilogy tin, but will gladly double dip on this gem!

Hopefully they can entice Mel Gibson to do some new interviews or commentary. If not, I don't think I would re-buy again.

That would be the only way I would even give buying this a thought. Otherwise I'll stand by what I said in the Scream Factory thread that I'm not double dipping on this when I already have the trilogy release. This is my least favorite of the three anyways, so there's little reason for me to spend at least $20 on it all over again.

I might double-dip if the PQ's improved. The current release has some awesome-looking parts, but also some gaudy-looking parts with print damage.

Sweet. The Road Warrior was one of the first movies I ever bought on bluray and I got Thunderdome as soon as it became available, but never got around to getting the first one. Now I have something to look forward to for it!

This will almost certain be the same transfer as before that MGM will suply SF.
SF will tweak it a bit as usual and let's hope they don't licence it with that awful (yet hilarious) american dub
The extras are what will be different

I'll double dip for a Gibson commentary and/or better PQ.

I hope UniSol gets really angry when he learns Shout! got this as Shout! is not in the 4K master business.

Already have the single release and the trilogy box, and I doubt the PQ will look any better.

But to echo somebody else, if they can actually pull Gibson in for a commentary or even a lengthy interview, I'm all in.

MGM owns the first one in the US. They let WB use it in the trilogy set.
