Buy Pulse without a doubt if you are more of a Pink Floyd Fan than a solo David Gilmour Fan.

This disc is awesome, but the fog machines impair the high definition impact. It is still more than worth owning on Blu-ray since the sound and the performances are top notch. My only real misgiving is the fact that the menu system does not exploit the ability to continue watching the concert while accessing the menu screen. The "style over substance" menu system is more annoying than functional.

Default Audio problem here?

Just watched this last night and am very disappointed with the PQ and AQ. This is without a doubt the worst looking blu in my 100+ collection. Looks like a few high quality cams were used on the close up shots and then handycams for the distant shots. There is so much video noise in these shots, about 30 -40% of the concert, that it looks like vhs tape in the 6 hr. mode.

Then there's the sound. Very unimpressive - a very centered sound field with very little coming from the rears except applause. Now, I've checked a thread at highdef digest and a few people are saying that they get no left channel sound in true hd mode. I'll have to go back and confirm that later tonight. That would explain why this was not the killer sound I was expecting. If this is a defect I hope there will be some kind of replacement program. Haven't seen anything related to that yet.

I started the night off with Celine to please the wife. This sounds excellent and so does Dave Matthews which followed. So I know my system is working fine. Can't believe that everybody who commented on this disk on this site was all gaga happy with not one mention of the negative points I'm *****in' about.

Oh, and the concert itself is great - a nice mix of old and the latest work from Dave no complaints in that department.

Thumbs down Remember that waste of a $30 B-Ray purchase

Remember That Night - David Gilmore Review.

Finally ! I was so exicited when I found this B-Ray @ my local W-Mart for $29.99.

I ve been looking for this since it I d/l the preview concert from my PS3 months ago.

In the past Ive been impressed with old concert DVDs like Blue Man Group and Dido. Thinking this B-Ray would be a level above it had me rushing out of the parking lot.

Upon arriving home I told the kids to shut down Metal Gear 4 on the PS3 so I could emmerse myself with the music.

Then after 30mins of listening to the tracks I was familiar with - I along with the kids realised that I got ripped off

From an AQ point my system (Im pushing around 1400watts total) it could NOT help this poorly recorded craap.

Channels in the rear made it seem like some idiot engineer just placed an audience clapping track for the concert. Geez at some point I thought one of my left side and left rear speaker had the wires somehow were pulled from the terminals.
WTF !!!

The front end sound was lacking in depth - it was thin like it was recorded for AM radio. So what gives ? OK I ejected it out and reloaded. Double checked my system settings for audio and Arrg still the same crappy sound.

Now for the PQ -

Talk about bad consumer reviews Ive read here. Were some of you who wrote the shinning feedback(s) on this substandard product smokin dope ?

What sold me on the d/l Preview was the DETAIL of the concert. Turns out that was only about 30% if not less on the whole disc.

MOST of the shots were taken from shitty NON HD cams ! I could have done those myself with my $ 700 cam. The grain was BRUTAL - my old DVD concerts have much better definition.

My HD FTA box has given me far better PQ & AQ on the HD live concerts that have been broadcast and the signal is not true HD band !

IMO I should have just kept to veiwing the YouTube Version of this B-Ray instead of paying $30 for this one.

So if your in the market for this substandard recording save ur $$$$ till a better version comes out or just stick with the free version on YouTube.

Thank you for Ur time..

From - An actual test and review from someone who just didnt gloss over stuff that they purchased...

AQ is great, IMO; however, like others have said, if you are looking for true BR quality in the the Video, forget it!

AQ is a step up from the SD release, so if you have a decent audio system and like the music, it is a decent, albeit not must have, buy for a true fan.

Should also be noted that the "grain" seems to pop up the most when heavy smoke machine use is in play. Most shots from behind the drum kit or in the middle of the crowd or on close-ups of guitar work are decent. So let's also put some blame on all the damn smoke...

I've got this BD and love it. I'll never understand why people get into a tizzy about things not being perfect. Just because something’s released on Blu-ray doesn't mean it's going to be flawless. So what if the picture has grain, it's a concert after all. At least the show's 16:9 so people won't complain about black bars. Oh, and the person that complained about the black and white performance… that was David doing the Syd Barrett song Dark Globe solo-acoustic as a live tribute right after he died. It was the only time he ever performed the song. If you're a Gilmour fan, buy the BD and enjoy a fantastic performance.

The PQ is as good as it's ever going to look. It's live people! The PQ can only be as good as it's source. The audio is also exceptional, anyone who complains about that needs a hearing aide.

Although the PQ isn't stellar, as has been noted in this thread, this is still one of my favorite video concerts. It has some of the best musicianship I have seen in a Gilmour concert, and it was nice to see Richard Wright in one of his last appearances. Also, I enjoyed the inclusion of Crosby and Nash. As for PQ, most of the show was dark anyway, and the smoke and "dreamlike" character of many of the songs lessened the demand for a razor-sharp picture.

But the reason I reopened such an old thread is...the standard DVD looks gorgeous !?!?!?!? Can ANYONE else back me up on this, OR explain to me WHY that is ( other than the Blu Ray " magnifying " the imperfections that are there on the DVD ) ???? I LOVE my DVD's PQ & AQ !?!?!?

Well, DVD isn't that bad . The AQ from the DVD should still be good, but the PQ won't be that big of a difference from the BD due to the nature of the concert (hazyness; fog etc...)
