It's going for less than 100USD now, which is like 5 Criterion releases. For that money you get a 10-movie set (on 7 blu's) housed in a sturdy box plus a 200-page hardback book filled with writings and stills. Not saying it's cheap but it's immense value for money.

Looks like KAMIKAZE 89 will be hitting blu ray in the near future:

The way I read the Kickstarter is that the campaign is only for a theatrical release and that the blu ray/DVD will be happening regardless?

^ Seems that way.

Regardless, if you want to help fund it, they have added a new reward ($25 for the bag or $89 with the bag, a mini poster, lobby cards, button, and patch):

I watched Lola last night on TCM...DVRed it a few weeks ago.

Of the four Fassbinder films I've seen, it's my least favorite and the only one so far that didn't really do much for me.

...I don't know why that is.

I agree, never been a huge fan of Lola and think it's the least of the BRD trilogy.

I tried. Ordered the Arrow set, blind, never had seen any Fassbinder films.

Started with Merchant of Four Seasons. Overall depressed feeling was very strong, performances at time lessened the believability of the film. Watched Beware a Holy *****...hated it, pompous, boring..trash. Attempted to watch The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant last night and turned it off after 20 minutes...it is VERY rare that I don't watch a film through to completion and I've sat through some stinkers.

I guess Fassbinder isn't for me. The films feel like amateurish trash hiding behind a facade of high art, but without any of the entertainment value of most trash. All the joy has been sucked out. Bland, boring trash.

You could've just said Fassbinder isn't for you and left it at that.

But I guess you felt the need to take it a step further to make up for the fact that you ordered an expensive box set without ever having watched a single film by that director.

...sucks for you bro.

Congratulations on ordering a whole freaking box set from an arthouse director you weren't acquainted with.

To the 2 members above, uhh no and no. I clearly stated why I didn't like the films in question, the price of the set wasn't an issue if anything it will appreciate in value with time.

Attacking my decisions in product consumption isn't a valid argument, the films aren't for me I consider them trash end of story.

Who said I was making an argument?

if anything it will appreciate in value with time.

...unlikely.

OK, I'll break it down for you. Person A says, these are reasons why I don't like X. Then person b says - you're an idiot for buying something expensive that you didn't know anything about, and THAT is why you don't like it.

Person B is not addressing the points that person A made and instead attacking person A's character and then pulling a made up reason out of their ass and pinning it on Person A.

As far as it appreciating, depreciating or staying the same in value, none of us can tell, only time will. Either way the value of non value of the set doesn't have anything to do with me thinking the films are shite.

Only I didn't say that...or anything even remotely like that.

I made an observation and you inferred something that was not said, based on that observation.

...an observation is not an argument.

Good luck selling your box set.

I'll be happy for you, and more than a little surprised, if you don't lose money, let alone make any.

Had you done a just little bit of research on Fassbinder you may have gotten an inkling that he isn't the most accessible of European, 70s art house directors. I have no sympathy for you. Your insistence that it's the films which are bad on here amounts to no more than trolling the fans of his films for whom this thread is for. Fassbinders films aren't "shite" but you are a Dummkopf for shelling out on a set like this when you could easily have rented or bought one of his more accessible films first, to test whether his style is for you. And what's the point of getting into arguement's here ? You are hardly going to find sympathy for your stupid purchasing decision and ignorant responses to Fassbinder's films on this thread.

Here we go again, personal insults against me. Surely you have heard of the term ad hominem. I stated that I did not find Mr. Fassbinder's films to be in any sense of the word "good" and you insult me personally, I did not insult anyone here, if you are so sensitive that you can't hear criticism of something that you like, that's sad.

You seem to throw the word "sympathy" around quite a bit in your post, I never once asked for sympathy, I never alluded or hinted at a request for sympathy.

I would like to state that I harbor no I'll will toward Rainer Werner Fassbinder or his fans, I have an opinion and it is mine and that is all. I appreciate that people are allowed to have their own tastes in films and that we are all different. While I do like to stir the pot, I didn't intend to turn this thread into a primate shit throwing contest.

Todd Tomorrow I believe you owe me an apology for calling my purchasing decisions "stupid" and for calling my posts "ignorant".
