1. Spongebob - $32 Million
2. American Sniper - $19.8 Million
3. Jupiter Ascending - $13.6 Million
...? Seventh Son - $5.2 Million (Hey, I'm optimistic!)

Also be aware that Jupiter Ascending and Seventh Son will be splitting IMAX showings. Not sure if WB will extend American Sniper's IMAX run since it needs to recoup as much as possible for Jupiter Ascending.

Based on early reports, BoxOffice projects that The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water should end up with between $37 million-$39 million during its debut frame, which is more than enough to end American Sniper's run in first place. Sniper is headed for a low-20s haul this weekend.

Jupiter Ascending and Seventh Son are off to weak starts. Jupiter looks to be on pace for $18 million-$19 million, but it could end up with even less considering that early word of mouth is toxic. Seventh Son is looking at $7 million-$7.5 million.

I just don't want to step on anyone's toes. I know there are a couple of people who usually do them.

Um, guys? SpongeBob 2 is tracking for a $50+ mil opening.

http://deadline.com/2015/02/spongebo...on-1201366190/

Quote:
UPDATE, EARLY SATURDAY 1:45 AM: Insiders this weekend have nicknamed it the battle of the fanboy bombs, as both Warner Bros.’ Wachowski siblings’ “Cinderella in Space” VFX mashup Jupiter Ascending and Universal’s Legendary release Seventh Son are drowning under the weight of Paramount’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. After a super $14.3M in Friday industry estimates, SpongeBob is now expected to post a $53.1M weekend; a whopping 66% increase over his $32M big-screen bow in November 2004. Should SpongeBob stay on track, he’ll own the second-highest opening for an animated film in February behind last year’s The LEGO Movie ($69.1M) and the fifth highest FSS for the month.

I'm surprised SpongeBob is doing THAT well, although I figured it would be in the Top 2 with American Sniper. No surprise at all that Jupiter Ascending and especially Seventh Son are tanking. That latter seemed like a surefire bomb from the trailer. When will these studios learn that A)Jeff Bridges cannot open a big budget blockbuster type film and B)they crash and burn spectacularly at the box office when he employs some weird manner of speaking(remember RIPD?)?

BoxOffice.com's Early Estimates:

http://pro.boxoffice.com/statistics/...ate/2015-02-07

1) SpongeBob 2, $53 mil
2) American Sniper, $25 mil
3) Jupiter Ascending, $17.8 mil
4) Seventh Son, $6.6 mil
5) Paddington, $5.7 mil
6) Project Almanac, $5.0 mil
7) The Imitation Game, $4.9 mil
8) The Wedding Ringer, $4.8 mil
9) Black or White, $4.5 mil
10) The Boy Next Door, $3.9 mil

By the way, American Sniper just passed Captain America 2 for Number 3 of 2014. It will prolly pass Mockingjay Part 1 as Number 1 of 2014.
