I'll believe it when they announce it. They also said a Special Edition of Blue Is The Warmest Color was "coming soon" and that was over a year ago. It took them like 5 years to finally release Y Tu Mama Tambien if I remember correctly so just because Criterion confirms it doesn't mean we will see it this decade

New 2K digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray
New introduction by filmmaker Mike Leigh
New conversation between director Jan Troell and film historian Peter Cowie
New interviews with actor Eddie Axberg and producer and screenwriter Bengt Forslund
Interlude in Marshland, a 1965 short film by Troell, starring Max von Sydow
New English subtitle translation
PLUS: An essay by film scholar Mark Le Fanu

I'll say the same thing I said in the Criterion thread. I freely admit to being wrong and overzealous about my prediction. I also won't rule it out 100% either however since double clues aren't exactly foreign to Criterion. So I'll gladly eat crow here, but I'll save a little just in case

Exactly. It is an obvious double clue, which Criterion has done every once in a while.

Especially when it's $3 or less at Big Lots.

I adore Criterion's packaging and extras, but if I had any interest in the movie (I don't - once was enough), this would be an easy choice for me to make - the $3 Big Lots (20th Century Fox) edition wins every time.

Why Criterion? Better extras, really. More than a half-hour bit with Fincher and Nolan waxing poetic about how great Malick is. Some substance would be nice. But I agree that the A/V on the Fox disc is pretty much perfect as is.

Just curious - why didn't you like the movie? I think it's arguably his best.
