BFI is releasing a great Otto Preminger boxset and Where the Sidewalk Ends & Fallen Angel are included .

I received House of Bamboo today and I will be watching it in a few minutes. Filmed in Japan...I am sure I will like it .

Hoping MOC or another label overseas will handle BAMBOO. I'm getting weary of paying premium prices for near bare bones releases and, for me, inappropriately modernized artwork adding insult to injury.

I agree that we are heading into more and more of a niche market for releases like these, but given the choice I will aim as much money as I can toward TT competitors who offer more bang for my buck.

If you've seen Shock Corridor, Fuller utilizes location footage from House's climax for one of Shock's hallucination sequences.

Got my House Of Bamboo today and although I was hoping they might have shown some mercy with the amount of teal push this one turns out to be as bad as if not worse than any previous Fox title I've seen. In the opening scenes the snow is actually blue! Luckily my set allows me to change the color settings so that it's at least watchable for me, but really a shame that the studio had to go and ruin this great, great movie.

The snow looks white and normal to my eyes. I'm watching this House of Bamboo Blu-ray for the third time in two days, since I've been going through the commentary tracks, and I skipped back to the opening scene again after I read your comment. My television is calibrated to a customized level that is close to the Cinema mode setting.

I don't have the ability to make screenshots right now, but it probably wouldn't matter if I did.

At first I did think it was my television at fault as the blue in the screenshots posted here earlier is less intense than what I was seeing, but when I popped in my JTTCOTE to compare over all this looked fine on my screen at the same settings. In any event I'm just happy I'm able to adjust my TV for this film

that was the Color palatte fox used for that era of film and film stock . Love is a Many Splendoured thing , ,The Blue Max , Desk Set etc all look accurate to the source .We should be grateful Fox have not changed things .
Unlike some more modern titles with revisionist color timing

Deluxe color had a different look to Technicolor which gave Fox's Scope films of the 50s a distinct house style (although just to confuse matters this was shot in Deluxe, which Fox owned, but it appears that some release prints were processed in Technicolor), and this looks true to an unfaded original 35mm print I saw at a revival screening a few years ago. The soft shots are noticeable in the 35mm print as well and are pretty much typical of some of the problems you'd get with exterior shots in early CinemaScope films (it was generally easier to control the lighting, which required a lot more light than non-Scope films, in studio sets).

No, they don't. You can add Kazan's Wild River to the list of problematic restorations as well.

Wild River : yes when I first saw it , I thought the same thing . Brilliant compression by DM but why the teal? I must confess I was ignorant of the issues but have since learnt what Deluxe/Fox/cinemascope films were meant to look like . These Fox 4k transfers are stunning and I can now enjoy them knowing Fox hasn't made a mistake. Unlike my first impression of Love Is a many Splendoured Thing where I mistakenly thought something went wrong.

Luckily the Preminger set contains 3 Black and White films which can't be tealed!.........

No matter how many people claim the teal look is the original look, I simply don't like that look!

I'll stick with my DVD's for that lovely creamy Fox Deluxe color.

The Fox transfers are not stunning -- the Monroe films, the Kazan films, the Guillermin film, (even the new 4K restoration of Altman's 3 Women) have very serious grading issues.

I don't know where you are learning that they are looking as they should, but there is a very distinctive cyan font on them that has a digital origin.

The only good news recently is that the big black-and-white restorations look very good (unlike Fox's release of Kazan's Panic in the Streets).
