Thanks for the informative posts, everyone!...
Because Bitstream mixes the HD track into Dobly Digital only...or lossy audio. Thus it problems a problem if you have a receiver that can decode the lastest HD codecs but how would you get the HD audio to your receiver?

Your only way of getting HD audio with full 5.1 loseless sound on the PS3 is via LPCM (with an HDMI connection of course)

The better stand-alone blu-ray models can bitstream HD audio. Thus, one of the few problems with the PS3 as your main media center...hopefully they fix it someday

so did you try to put a HDMI cable from your PS3 to the "receiver" (in) and another from the receiver (out) to the HD TV? then go to the PS3 settings, choose HDMI cable for the audio then play a Blu-ray with PCM and see what it does ...
minimal problem will be that you have to have the receiver on at times you use the PS3 or you won't have any sound at all.

The PS3 will never be able to bitstream the HD audio because of the chipset there using will not allow it. There are tons of information in the forums all over the internet about it. The PCM is just fine for most people and I think people will start buying the standalone players more with the bitstream capabilites once the price comes down to a standard of less than $200.

Yeah - everything seems to be working fine. Again, thanks to all for the help!
