My blu peeves are generally just personal quirks probably, and things that are likely just a byproduct of studios naturally saving costs. Things like:
- The growing trend for the lack of special features or the lack of a commentary for a film. I often learn as much from them as the film itself! In a perfect world, every film should have as many commentaries and features as is possible. Yet I know it's not a perfect world... ![]() - The lack of "deluxe packaging" (namely Digibooks). It is such a classy format and gives depth, not only to the packaging, but to the perceived "importance" of a chosen film. Of course, the slow-down of making them is understandable - they cost more to make, many (though surely not all) highly acclaimed films already have one, and the trend is away from packaging in general. Still, if it were up to me, all films would be cherished as they deserve with the likes of a beautiful digibook. Well, at least the good ones... ![]() - The potential problem of "universal compatibility" when a blu is being played on one machine versus another. I haven't run into this issue myself (yet). So I don't speak from personal experience. Still, I find it puzzling that the format itself isn't made to be compatible with every possible existing player. The last thing anyone should have to worry about with any physical format is whether or not it plays on the appropriate player for it! - The lack in some cases (not all) of attractive / original poster cover art. Granted, this is a superficial and highly subjective kind of thing, but I'm often amazed to see a classic film with great content and wonderful poster art displayed on a shelf with a drab or mundane photo that hardly even flatters the film, or its characters. Oh well... Last edited by Popcorn_Bliss; 06-29-2016 at 08:34 PM. |

I want more movies to be able to repeat the movie. On DVD's I could put say it to repeat the main title and it would repeat the movie. I know it's crazy, but it was nice to have. Some menus have really annoying sound and we go to sleep with the TV on and be nice to have this on bluray

The mouth-breathing neckbeard collectors on Youtube that studios give promotional copies of movies in exchange for making non-critical videos where they basically just recite the back of the case and a synopsis of the movie, and call that a "review". Youtube is flooded with these to the extent that it can be tough to find a REAL review of a movie that actually addresses its flaws.

The price tags on products from distribution companies like Criterion, Kino Lorber and Twilight Time... paying four times the price for fancy packaging and extras I might never look at (except for commentary tracks) often feels like a raw deal.

In he combo sets with Blu and DVD, they place the DVD on the right side of case with the Blu hidden under the paper advertisement. Don't know how many times I slapped in the movie only to see its the DVD. Ticks me off, those b&$t&rd$

When shrink wrap sticks to the spine of the case
When the DVD is placed on the right side in the case. I just watched the DVD of Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse by accident. I'm used to the blu-ray being on the right. |

Warner Bros.
Universal Paramount Lionsgate etc, etc. Every one of them has hobbled the format in some way, from constantly recycling the same shitty HD DVD encodes over and over again, to DNRing everything to death, to sitting on their back catalogue. Last edited by Sky_Captain; 07-05-2016 at 10:28 PM. |

When the Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh logo is placed on the cover.
When the packaging company puts stickers directly on the case instead of the plastic packaging wrap. |

My biggest pet peeve about Blu-ray are when they don't have or didn't have a uncompressed or lossless audio.
Eco cases (I am anal about dust) I often change them to DVD cases, I hate Eco Cases especially when Blu-rays or UHD Blu-rays could have come in those thin cases like the Star Trek original movie collection. ![]() Last edited by Canada; 04-07-2018 at 11:51 PM. |

- Universal's standard menu system, especially the loud noise every time you move the selection.
- Unskippable logos, notices etc. - Not being able to cycle through the audio or subtitle options using the remote, and having to bring up the pop-up menu. - Discs that don't remember where you were in the movie, so have to figure it out with chapter select. |
