Just watched the 15 Minutes DVD, so I won't be needing the Blu ray anytime soon.
Then I put in Escape From Alcatraz, and it's non-anamorphic !?!? Well, that certainly sealed my decision. Bring on the Blu ray !!! Next up, Kiss The Girls. Looks anamorphic, but I'll reserve how I feel by the end of the film. To upgrade, or not to upgrade. Sure love waking up to so many new titles coming, nearly every day lately. |

Don´t expect a good picture quality. I´ve got the German blu-ray and the picture quality is at least average.

WB needs to fire the Home video art department, it sucks. It is not hard at all. Only use the original poster art. If there is more than one, flip a coin. It's funny how WB regular releases have the worst art and WB Archive has the best.

WB needs to do away with the cookie cutter menus, eco-cases, and plain jane disc art.

They think these photoshop attract more looks on the shelf, and they probably have market research to back that up. They're not idiots.

The cover art is straight from Paramount, so Warner didn't have anything to do with the design, and probably couldn't just change it themselves.
Warner are more likely to use the same cover art as the DVD, or the original poster art for their catalog releases, except when they re-release catalog titles for anniversaries, then they go nuts with bad photoshops |

It may indeed by the case: a large image head of a well known actor on the case grabs the attention of a shopper to pick up the disc and then purchase it. However, so many catalog titles are not even on shelves anymore in stores (only mail order) so I don't know how much it matters these days.
