Some awesome news. According to Fox' rep, James Finn, this is indeed a remastered edition (see below).

[Show spoiler]

New transfer, new extras, sweet packaging...way to go Fox!

Sure there is the Predator disaster, but more often than not "remaster" means actual improvement. I'm not worried in the least.

Well, Fox also remastered Patton and The French Connection. Both look great in comparison to their previous releases.

That's what I thought, it's like one of them tacky Warners editions. Makes me wonder what the remastered version of Die Hard will ship in when it finally gets released...something like this, perhaps? https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=261833

That means it is extended compared to the British cut, thus making it the theatrical cut, or is it extended contrary to a shorter theatrical cut?
AFAIK the UK 'extended' is simply the uncut theatrical version.

True, it's just that when Finn says something it's best taken with a grain of salt, like the Rogue cut of DOFP not containing the theatrical version: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-X...Cut-68926.html

I'm not relaying solely on his information. A restored version is also mentioned in the press release.

Re: The Rogue Cut, who knows what happened there. Perhaps, initially, their intentions were to release The Rogue Cut only, but at the last moment Fox (or Singer?) changed their minds. Let's not forget that Finn have posted a bunch of useful and legit updates regarding various upcoming BD releases in the past.

At this rate, I'm confident that this will be a remastered edition.

I think they're putting more effort into this release. I mean, they created a new logo and everything ..I'm pretty confident it'll be a new transfer

Normally i'm a sucker for special edition packaging but that just looks like a bunch of junk. Hopefully we get a simple disc release so I can throw it in my UK Steelbook.

It's priced at $19.99 pre-order, so it will probably be like $10 with a flash sale. That pricing implies this is a simple/standard edition, and not some uber collector's edition. Assuming this is a quality remaster, at $10 i will probably have to double dip.

Hopefully it's in a relatively "normal" sized case. That picture makes the package looks almost like a UCE style box. As long as it's sturdy and not so big I will be OK - even if I don't care about the junk inside of it. If they are going for a "special" package, I would have preferred they went with digibook style.
