I didn't even notice that, but it makes sense. MTV got a new higher up after the 1st season ended and that's why everything got cancelled, but since this had already been renewed and probably resumed production, they didn't want to lose money. Plus, TSC is a Paramount property and Spike is changing it's name to Paramount Network in 2018.

...I'd have more faith in it sticking on MTV though. They've done surprisingly well with scifi/fantasy stuff, and even a few comedy shows. I haven't liked a single thing Spike has done, I only just barely tolerate The Mist.

Trailer looks quite nice! Looks like they are really straying from the book. It's been awhile but I don't recall Wil ever using the Sword of Shannara. Was hoping this season followed the events of Wishsong(one of my favorite books of all time!). Either way looking forward to the air date and hopefully another BD release!

The whole series has strayed heavily from the books. They're Shannara in name only with waaaaaaaaaay too many anachronisms. For one thing, Brooks only ever hinted in very subtle ways that this fantasy world was Earth of the distant future. However, since modern Millennials are seemingly too stupid to get the tiniest of clues here and there, they have easily recognizable music, buildings, and monuments (not to mention working film projectors and other mechanical devices!!) that would have long ago turned to dust.

The acting and showrunner decisions have been nothing but poor. Sure the girls are hot, but they all seem like rejects from the Jersey Shore or California surfer communities... or the CW for that matter.

That aircraft carrier scene was like strait out of Force Awakens, someone making it was a fan.
I really need to rewatch first season, I forgot too much of the world.

Does Hulu have this? I missed the first episode and don't see it playing again on the guide.

Ugh, my worst fears were realized when they totally destroyed the brilliant character of Garet Jax. I had a feeling if he appeared, in the show, he would be nothing like the book. Still like the show, but this is a big let down. Just have to hope for best going forward.

I was surprised at how good s1 was, but man s2 has just gone way downhill from the start, pretty much every new actor was terrible except for Malese Jow
[Show spoiler]and then they kill off all good actors
... I'm not sure if moving to Spike meant some kind of change or if it would have been this terrible still on MTV, but I'll be surprised if this gets a 3rd season especially since Spike is changing to Paramount Network and taking on shows from other networks.

season 2 started good at least with better local characterizations and landscapes and cinematography and fights and interesting characters like General Riga.

What happened between s1 and s2 should have been better explained. Until the last 4 episodes of s2 everything was good but the end. oh boy. that was bad. And even the cinematography and cgi in the ending was very bad. I fear there are no budget for s3.

They should have insisted in the General Riga thing and moved the warlock for s3.

I enjoyed S1, i've yet to watch S2. As it's unlikely to get S3 is it worth watching? I don't want to finish it with a huge cliffhanger

I enjoyed it, not as much as the first season but if you like the genre I wouldn't pass it up. The storyline wrapped, had a teaser for more but you should be fine. However they are giving it decent odds it gets a third season because of the new Paramount channel will need something to get people.

The Scandinavian and German Blu-ray releases of season two are awful, unfortunately.

I've been waiting for Season 2 on Blu-ray, didn't even realize it was released so quickly!

Can you provide details about what's wrong with them?

The Scandinavian release is MPEG2 and just looks horrible. The only subs are in the four Scandinavian languages, so no English subs for the elfish or whatever it is they speak once in a while.

The German release is AVC but doesn’t look much better (if at all). It’s 50Hz though. It does have English subs for the elfish talk.

I’ve had both releases and ended up keeping the German one, though I’m actually watching MKV files of the other one, which I sold. The only other release coming out seems to be Australian.

Ah, indeed that is bad. Thanks very much for the info.

I bought the UK release of Season 1, because it was 3 discs instead of the North American releases being 2 discs, and it wasn't framerate converted as far as I know, it was 23.976 fps 1080p.

Let's hope the UK will soon release Season 2 as well in the same manner.

If not, let's hope the Australian release will be better...

UK Blu-ray for Season 2 now available for pre-order. Yay

Episodes spread to 3 discs again, giving them room to breathe, unlike the releases of other regions that are only 2 discs.

Not sure where info on this site is from, but it's supposed to have DTS-HD 5.1 and English SDH subtitles like the first season, so it's sounding pretty good.

Something wrong on Amazon.co.uk, it's giving insane shipping amount for import, so hopefully that will be fixed soon so I can pre-order it

US getting Season 2 on May 15th, and Best Buy will have an exclusive bundle with Season 1 and 2, and it's just $31.99 right now, which is a great price

Amazon US is saying the US version is 3 discs for Season 2, just like the UK version. But the Best Buy bundle will undoubtedly have the original US release of the first season, with 2 discs rather than the UK's 3.

Definitely a good deal though for anyone who wants to get into the series who didn't already buy the first season and doesn't care about the extra compression on Season 1.
