Ha! I absolutely adored my Sony 34" Widescreen Wega TV. I used to state I'd put it up against any TV any day and got razzed to no end. Loved that TV. Truly the pinnacle of tube technology. Sigh.

I picked up a 60" LG 60PB6650 through dell.com about three months ago for $749 taxed and shipped with a $125 dell gift card bundled. The model has some issues with pink blooming on a solid white screen, but that's seldom an issue with movies, as rarely do you have an overwhelming white scene.

Love the depth and contrast of color, shame the technology is largely being ousted in favor of LCD.

Ouch, JJ. Sorry to hear that. My VT60 is still going strong, except now my little guy is putting fingerprints all over the glass. We recently moved into a rental and can't mount anything on the wall, so the Panny now sits on a TV stand. Perfect height for little hands to use as a "touch screen".

I just bought a new Sony for the bedroom. Not a single plasma in sight at Best Buy.

That's an amazing TV, my Wega is only 4:3. Anyway, the only reason they stopped making them is because people opted for size convenience over quality. More or less like replacing film with digital.

A 480i Trinitron is better than anything modern regarding everything except resolution. The comparison I did was in fact with a Trinitron.

Ah, wish I had known I would have sold it to you. Would have only cost $2000 to ship lol.

I still have a 32 inch Sony wega 480i 4:3 that I got in December 2005. It's still going strong but it's only being used as a gaming tv now. Anyway, color and motion are top notch to this very day. It's a shame that they couldnt have perfected CRT tech to match LCD'S screen size and thinness.

You never saw a Kuro, eh? My sympathies.

By the way, I've owned both. Still have the Kuro.

If so then I guess I'll go buy a new projector for the HT.
It's OLED time. The last great plasma TV's were the Pioneer Kuro's and Panasonic ZT's.

Still have my VT60, but have my eyes set on the future of OLED. OLED will be my next display. Wish more companies would invest in OLED.

I don't think the future of 4K is blu ray, its streaming. It would be good if these new TV's are all smart TV's with streaming capability.

I'm keeping my 2010 sony lcd until it fails. Meanwhile I'll pick up a used Kuro and have it readily available before they all disappear from the used market.

No need for 4k until plasmas make a comeback. If I had a dedicated theater with a projector,...well, ..that's a different story. But that's just my taste. Enjoy!

Plasmas will never make a comeback do to the power consumption laws preventing 4K plasmas from being released. The 2008 Pioneer Elite Signature series PRO-141FD and PRO-101FD were the best and last plasmas made in terms of 2-D 1080P picture quality.

Plasmas owners when they are ready to upgrade are now moving to high-end 3 chip DLP projectors and/or 4K OLED flat panel screens.

I don't believe only select kuros had the best PQ. The kuro technology is the same for all models. All 9G kuros had the best PQ.
