It certainly looks surprisingly good in 1.66:1 (the two other versions on the Eureka disc are fixed-frame 1.66:1, as presented at the premiere, and the later George Stevens Jr-supervised version that's mostly the same but which adjusts certain shots to fit the 1.66:1 mask more effectively - much of the time this involves lowering the image slightly so we can see the mountain tops in the background), but if you run the 1.37:1 and 1.66:1 versions side by side it's obvious what the intended framing was at the time of shooting.
Thanks, Michael! Great to know that. I will definitely trust your word on this

I was beginning to worry that it would contain only one version (1.37:1) just like the US Blu-ray, which I already own. Now I feel safe about ordering the MoC Blu-ray!

ill order when its confirmed there are 3 versions. Hopefully its not as dark as the U.S version which is almost unwatchable in the night scenes.

Have a look through the thread (and search the Eureka thread). Kevin from Eureka has stated there will be 3 versions of Shane on the MoC disc.

That said, with no reviews and no confirmation of extras, I'm anticipating a delay. Glad to be proven wrong, but also happy to wait if it does turn out to be the case.

Does anyone know the region code? This looks like a great package and I'm hoping it will be universal.

Still no detailed info on Eureka's or any other site. All it says is 1-disc and 1.37:1 and it is the same everywhere.

I am beginning to have a bad feeling about this.......

Sounds very much like a definitive release of this magnificent film. Can't believe I'm paying just over £10 for this now, an absolute steal.

£11.99 at Base is currently the cheapest for this and The Quiet Man. Not sure if they were previously £10.99 on Amazon like some MOC's have been.

I assumed it would be some kind of authoring magic, considering Lyris was involved. Happy I was proven wrong and Eureka went all-out on this one!

Both dropped to £10.25 on Amazon at one point.

Far from "Bravo" it's "Boo" to Eureka for yet another absolutely pointless and overpriced release.

Oh well, off to Base.com I go...
Might still drop before it's released...but yeah, worth covering all bases (no pun intended).
