Need Sam Jackson and The Rock as the priests taking on Satan. Make it a comedy. Wayans bros to write and Tyler Perry to direct. Will Smith as the Mother and Jaden Smith as Regan.

DREAM CAST!

Looks like this is just a rumor as William Friedkin himself took to twitter to say this:

Just another senseless and unwanted remake. Morgan Creek should be ashamed.

That's what I said 2 pages ago. Warner Brothers owns The Exorcist and Exorcist ll The Heretic. Morgan Creek has 3 thru Dominion with Warner's distributing.

Maybe they can remake Exorcist: The Beginning then, that one sucked. Dominion was better but not by much.

I actually prefer The Beginning over Dominion.

‘The Exorcist’ Reboot Reportedly Coming to Theaters in 2021

Quote:
Buried at the end of a recent Deadline article comes the news that a reboot of William Friedkin’s 1973 horror classic The Exorcist is being developed for theatrical release in 2021 by the folks at Morgan Creek Productions. Hang on to your holy water as we try to parse through what’s going on here.

This sentence was at the bottom of a Deadline article this afternoon, and it has sent a ripple of confusion through the horror community: “Current Morgan Creek projects include Stay Tuned at AMC, with a planned theatrical reboot of The Exorcist in the works for 2021.” Fox’s TV version of The Exorcist wrapped up its two season run back in 2017, but this is the first time we’re hearing about a feature film reboot, let alone one that might be ready for theatrical release as soon as next year.

A few years ago, Morgan Creek Productions rebranded into Morgan Creek Entertainment Group and began developing several of its library titles for reboots, sequels, or remakes. In 2015, the company explicitly promised they would never remake The Exorcist.

Hopefully they make both priests nuns this time round. My vote goes for Rubel Wilson and Betty White.

There is NO f'n way, that they can make a worthy film by remaking the original Exorcist. What a fool's errand. The 70's had the balls to go places in Hollywood. Today it's f'n McDonalds brand business sensibilities. Cheap, safe, and unimaginative.

^ This 100%.

The Exorcist can't be remade. It's like Jaws.

I'd like a sequel but I don't trust Hollywood to get it right these days.

Just remake The Heretic instead. There's room for improvement there.

I think The Exorcist is probably my favorite film of all time. Sigh. Are we looking at The Exorcist CINEMATIC UNIVERSE ... ? Probably not, but that would be funny.

I'm not against a remake, but they are never going to capture the 70s feel of the original.

So simply upgrade it, and instead of using Catholicism as a basis for it, why not Islam?

If it can be done for Suspiria, it can be done for The Exorcist.
