Default The Exorcist: Believer (2023)

Over the decades, Morgan Creek Productions has produced 78 films and today they announced that have hired investment banking group to sell domestic rights to their extensive library. Why? Are they swimming in debt? Nope. Actually they are debt-free and want to use the funds raised from the sale to go into funding a number of new properties that they are looking to move forward on.

Deadline reports: "As part of any sale, Morgan Creek would retain remake rights for five titles — Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Major League, Young Guns, Flying Tigers and The Exorcist — but pay a percentage of the gross profit to the new owner of the library." Morgan Creek CEO Jim Robinson informed Deadline that remakes are currently in the works for several of those properties, including The Exorcist.

The Exorcist (1973), directed by William Friedkin and starred Max von Sydow and Linda Blair, is still considered one of the scariest films ever produced. It's about a 12-year-old girl named Regan (Blair) who becomes possessed by the devil after playing with a Ouija board. Father Karras (Jason Miller) and Father Merrin (Sydow) are called in to help, but what they experience is no run of the mill exorcism.

No point for this. Just make another film that is exorcism related instead of just making The Exorcist generic, they're all pretty much the same nowadays anyway.

Do not want.

Not that I'm one of those 'all remakes are evil' people and I can think of some genuinely great ones, but The Exorcist is just one of those films which shouldn't be touched.

I pray to God that this doesn't come to be!! The Exorcist is an absolute classic!! It's already lost some of its scare factor because of all of the other possession films that have flooded the genre. They all try to compete with the original but just can't do it. Now, they're going after the original itself?? Man, this is seriously some sad news!!

You can tell this is going to be one of those watered down, soulless PG-13 modernized horror movies with plenty of cheap jump scares.

It's amazing how those in Hollywood just do not learn. Carrie, The Fog, Poltergeist, Halloween, My Bloody Valentine, Friday the 13th, remakes - either did lower than expected, or just bombed.
Beside Morgan has a terrible track record in handling two past "Exorcist" films; how stupid can they be. Really.
I don't know who is dumber, Morgan Creek or the investors!

Do they really believe they can make a better, yet alone, scarier movie than the original? Hhahahahahahahahah

I didn't think Morgan Creek had anything to do with the original film. Aren't The Exorcist and The Heretic owned exclusively by Warner Brothers? I don't think Warner Brother's would have ever sold the rights to the original, they're pretty proud to own it. I know 3, The Beginning, and Dominion are Morgan Creek distributed by Warner's, but not the original or The Heretic.

Halloween remake, lower than expected/bombed? It's the highest grossing in the series. My Bloody Valentine was also fun and made $100M worldwide on a $15M budget.

But I agree with everyone, please don't make this. I'm tired of these possession films. They're all the same: young woman gets possessed, says dirty things, and turns into a gymnast.

Will NOT see this! Will not support it whatsoever! The original is cinematic perfection! There is not really at ALL to do this! God I really hate Hollywood sometimes!

I found it scary as a kid, but tried to watch it 15 years ago and found it more comical than scary.

With that said, I think they should leave it alone and not remake it.
