I'd settle for a really good Blu-ray transfer.

Ugh, seeing all the garbage MGM titles that have gotten boutique releases and this film getting a mediocre Olive disc and then a DVD-R is really disappointing.

Based on this tweet, I wonder if we might be seeing a proper release of Eight Men Out from Cinématographe/Vinegar Syndrome next year.

Just an FYI to anybody considering buying the newer MGM release.
When I saw that this was rereleased in 2024 by MGM, I thought it was a no-brainer to buy the new release over the older Olive release. I was expecting the newer release to have the same special features as the Olive release, which was a major reason I bought it. Well the joke is on me, as the MGM release has zero special features ... not even a trailer. |

Sorry if my reply is a little slow ... I didn't have access to my blu-ray until a little while ago.
When I saw that the disc doesn't have the audio commentary, I didn't unwrap it ... I'm probably going to resell it as the commentary was a major selling point for me. I'm glad you found a review for it ... when I looked, I couldn't find any info about it. FWIW, here's a pic of the back and the info MGM gives us. [Show spoiler]

I was curious of this movie thanks to YT shorts.
Looks like the back of this version states 16:9, which is not as wide as the 1.85:1 version that the Olive one has. With both being close in price by a couple bucks difference, which version is preferred? The one with more supplements but the stretched image? Or the one with the balanced image but just the movie only? |
