I'd settle for a really good Blu-ray transfer.

So, did someone confirm the aspect ratio change/or no?

Ugh, seeing all the garbage MGM titles that have gotten boutique releases and this film getting a mediocre Olive disc and then a DVD-R is really disappointing.

I know I shouldn't accept scraps but I'm glad it's at least being reissued.

Hopefully this one will actually have subtitles. I'm willing to bet it comes pressed though, if so I'm in around $15.

Orbit DVD received their stock a few days ago and snapped a pic. Looks to be pressed.

On top of the geometry issue of the last release, curious if this has the DVD extras and what the other details of the release are, like subs.

Based on this tweet, I wonder if we might be seeing a proper release of Eight Men Out from Cinématographe/Vinegar Syndrome next year.

That would be great. Would like a blu ray with the features of the dvd. Or 4k since VS did Little Darlings and Southern Comfort in 4K.

Just an FYI to anybody considering buying the newer MGM release.

When I saw that this was rereleased in 2024 by MGM, I thought it was a no-brainer to buy the new release over the older Olive release. I was expecting the newer release to have the same special features as the Olive release, which was a major reason I bought it. Well the joke is on me, as the MGM release has zero special features ... not even a trailer.

I'll answer myself, but at least according to this semi-recent review, it DOES!

Sorry if my reply is a little slow ... I didn't have access to my blu-ray until a little while ago.

When I saw that the disc doesn't have the audio commentary, I didn't unwrap it ... I'm probably going to resell it as the commentary was a major selling point for me.

I'm glad you found a review for it ... when I looked, I couldn't find any info about it.

FWIW, here's a pic of the back and the info MGM gives us.

I was curious of this movie thanks to YT shorts.

Looks like the back of this version states 16:9, which is not as wide as the 1.85:1 version that the Olive one has.

With both being close in price by a couple bucks difference, which version is preferred? The one with more supplements but the stretched image? Or the one with the balanced image but just the movie only?

According to the review I found, the stretching is in both versions. Video and Sound wise look to be about the exact same. It probably comes down to whether you want supplements or you want subtitles. For me, until we get a 4k version (probably the minute Shoeless makes the HOF), I'll probably opt for the MGM version which has the subs.
