Not really, I never knew about it and I highly doubt the average Netflix user did either.

Why would a Netflix user be concerned about this show?

I wouldn't go as far as saying I enjoyed it but it was OK in an I couldn't be bothered to look for something else to watch way, even if it lacked the charm of Gilliam's film. I detested Friends as soon as I saw it so I haven't seen enough of Lisa Kudrow to find her annoying but when Waititi showed up as (who else?) The Supreme Being with a piece of acting so smug and annoying he sank the series single handed. If they really had to try a TV series of Time Bandits, they should have thrown a ton of money at the people behind Horrible Histories and Ghosts, who made one of the best comedy/fantasy series, Yonderland

I mean, there were major headlines about it in Variety, USA Today, AV Club, Daily Mail, etc etc. And many (most?) reviews of the show referred to it. So maybe you missed the story, but I imagine there's a good chance anyone who was interested enough in the show to figure out which streaming platform it's on would've come across it.

Which is weird, because I usually come across all media related stories daily, and yet I somehow missed all of it.

I just finished watching this series with my kids last week. Having grown up watching and loving the film, I was pretty nervous with how I would react to this, especially given how Disney mishandled the Willow TV show. As much as I love those movies, I’ve grown not to be so precious with them, and if someone wants to try something new with the IP, then I’m willing to give it a go and see if I like what they’ve done with it.

The comedic tone in Time Bandits is certainly different than in the movie, but at least it remains consistent. My biggest problem with the Willow show was that the tone was all over the place, as if they didn’t really know what kind of show they wanted to make. Time Bandits seems to retain its silly tone throughout the whole season, with a few minor heartfelt moments sprinkled in for good measure. Full disclosure, I like Phoebe from Friends, so I’m totally fine with Lisa Kudrow here.

The main thing I didn’t like was the sister character with her constant use of the word “flippin” or “frickin” or whatever it was. It just seemed forced and unnecessary. But all in all, I had a pretty good time with this show. It’s too bad it didn’t get renewed, but that’s also not all that surprising. I’m glad I watched it.
