Same here. This is coming in totally under the radar, which is a shame. More people need to know about this film and the BD release. Glad that someone saw fit to remaster it and put together a good release.

I have a vague recollection of having seen this movie on TV sometime in the 90's. Does it have a scene where a guy is sitting naked in a bathtub (the water is clear so you can see his nethers)

There is a couple of nice butt shots from the lady in it too.

No subs. This isn't exactly a movie overflowing with dialogue, but some of the regional accents (Api in particular) are hard to decipher without them.

Dang, I guess we can add Film Movement to the list of companies that still discriminates against the hard of hearing, especially when a sub track already exists that I added to the German disc.

Discriminates? Please. That word implies an active maliciousness. Your post is just one of countless examples of how people are far too quick to label something "discrimination," even when the action in question doesn't fit the word's actual definition in the slightest.

Would subtitles be nice? Absolutely. But you not getting something you want doesn't equal discrimination.

This is disappointing. I had hoped this would be the definitive release with English subs and at least 4 out of 5 on the PQ. Now we probably have to hope for one of the UK quality labels instead.

Actually, it does, when they are a necessity for millions of people and the track ALREADY exists. That's why companies like Olive and Kino are now including subs on every release, because its 2016 and they should. 'Would subtitles be nice?" is a cute and perfect example of how little you understand the problem, or don't care.

And actually, "discrimination is treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category"... and that's exactly what companies have been doing but not including tracks that already exist and could EASILY be included. If I can add them with freeware on my Mac, then surely big time companies can see to add them.

That's cool it's not a problem for you, but that doesn't make it a problem. I will call it how I see it, because it comes down to companies choosing to be cheap rather than making an equal opportunity product. One step forward, two steps back, as they say.

Please, indeed.

Its still a massive improvement over the German blu ray. A shame that the commentary which sounded like it would be great ends up being a bit of a bust

The review has kinda tempered my want for this version. The commentary track was the main draw, but it sounds like a tepid one, at best.

I'll stay with my old Anchor Bay dvd for a while longer.

So is not including audio assistance on all releases discriminating against the blind? How far does your "equal opportunity" argument stretch? You're acting as if companies have some sort of obligation to you, like you deserve exactly what you want. They don't, and you don't. They supply a product of their choice, and if it doesn't meet your criteria for purchase (such as including subtitles), you have the choice to "discriminate" against them by not buying it. It's that simple.

This isn't to say that I think companies shouldn't bother with subtitles. I think they should. But in some cases, it's not feasible, which is why making some sort of blanket condemnation of "discrimination" makes no sense.

Hmmm, well this turned out to be a pretty mediocre release. Debating not purchasing now. Guess I'll be adding Film Movement to the list of labels I wait for reviews for before ordering.

Would this be a blind buy for you? If not, we may not see another release of this great movie for quite a while, if ever. I'd recommend snagging one for the movie and HD alone. Just a suggestion, not trying to be a deek.

I'd never heard of this movie until I saw it mentioned here a few weeks back. It looks really interesting and I've had the BD on my Amazon wish list since then.

But yeah, no subs kills it for me, especially now that I read that the accents might be a problem. Too bad.

So I guess it's not worth double-dipping if I own the German Blu already?
