Here is a thread that I started in the Movies section so that those of us who have already seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens can talk the film without having to use the spoiler tags.

Do not post anything plot-related about the movie outside of that thread, please.

I loved watching this film last night without having seen any spoilers or any info, aside from the trailers. I want for everyone to have that same joy.

Was this movie even finished in 4K? Didn't look too sharp in the IMAX screening, and the 3D may have doomed it to 2K regardless.

is it because you want that ?

This will be foolish to not release on 3D Blu-Ray! and 3D Blu-Ray is being released by most studios there is no indication they are on the way out. Most tv's have 3D as a feature also now. They just don't advertise it anymore because its not new anymore but TV's stll have 3D feature

I put my pre-order in for that yesterday, too. I hope the artwork stays because that poster in a steelbook form would be perfect.

"I don't think anyone really cares" is of course a colloquialism that means very few care. Don't get me wrong, if UHD takes off and sticks around I will buy-in, I just don't expect it to. They have a hard enough time already selling regular blu-rays most of the time.

This is going to get a domestic 3D release, right? Disney's pretty much abandoned those for non-Pixar or Marvel titles lately.

Every major Walt Disney Pictures release lately has included a digital copy, whether it be Disney, Pixar, or Marvel Studios, so this most likely will as well. This is the first Walt Disney Pictures/Lucasfilm production so I suppose there's a possibility the Blu-ray won't include a digital copy... but I'm pretty sure Disney will include the digital copy.

I thought this one was only about the upcoming Blu-rays though?

I love that artwork too! If I had my way, I'd like to see a close up face shot of Ren, Phasma or maybe even BB-8, then the poster on the rear to match the previous 6 steelbooks. Of course asking for consistency is always a tall order these days!

Nope, not if the DCP's are an indication.

I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on those steelbooks, because I'm hoping either by the time this gets released, Disney is able to work out something to put out a matching set .. or .. FOX brings out another double dip themselves. I want all my movies with slipcovers. Matching slipcovers preferably.

I mean, if Universal can come out with new slipcovers it seems like with every new Fast/Furious movie, why can't FOX do that with Star Wars?

Don't give Disney any ideas! They'll do character steelbooks, like those Harry Potter ones that featured one character... and then I'd have to buy them all... and we can't have that.

I'd go with that gorgeous theatrical poster on the front. Anything less would leave me disappointed, I have to say. But heck, they could slip this in a paper bag marked with sharpie and I'd still buy it day one.
