Hi no I didn't it's sold out on Amazon Germany apart from resellers trying to sell it for €45-€50. I bought it from a Austrian online store Pretz Media, in my attached picture previous post 33.

That may be perfectly fine for people preferring the Theatrical Cut anyway but just keep in mind that the Straight Cut is NOT English-friendly.

The Caps-A-Holic guys will probably do a more thorough job on this one soon but I did a few quick screenshots from this new German/French StudioCanal Theatrical Cut Blu-ray to match their comparison:

EDIT: Here's the same moments in direct comparison to the Straight Cut Blu-ray...

...and I added a few more screenshots only from the Straight Cut:
That's a bummer guess I'll have to do the old Oppo UDP 203 trick. Download the straight cut English subtitles onto a USB stick for English subtitles during the straight cut blu-ray playback.

That's not an issue since it's 25p, but is 25 fps the proper frame rate for this?

Frame rate question aside, going by the caps, I also think waiting for the UK Indicator release was the right thing to do.

I just got the French/German steelbook release, and whoa it looks like shit for a 2020 release.

The image quality is not substantially different to the older releases, and it looks digitally processed. The grain field is very chunky, but a lot of fine detail is simply lacking -- it certainly does not look like a proper Super 35 film scan, in either cut.

Let's see what Indicator can serve us, but a new restoration this ain't.

Yes, there are English subtitles for the theatrical cut, and no, there are no English subtitles for the straight cut. The French and the German release are identical.

Is this the theatrical or straight cut? The film was shot on 16mm and the theatrical version had a lot of cg effects so was finished digitally IIRC. I’ve read some articles calling this a 4K restoration but I’m starting to think that the Theatrical Cut is probably an older master whereas the Straight could be from a new scan as the film had to be re-edited anyway. Are there any obvious differences between the transfers of either cut?

I haven't done a detailed comparison, but both look equally bad, to be honest. There is no difference in detail to my eye between the versions. And neither looks like 16mm film...

So, finally one of my favourite movies is released on a disc "approved by Gaspar Noe" (letempsdetruittout.com) and what can I say?
Picture quality is bad. No improvement in any way.

It's not even the lack of detail or the strangely soft grain, there are also some interlaced-style artifacts appearing from time to time.

What a mess, really disappointing.

25fps... so SC messed up the frame rate on both of the cuts?

At least the steelbook is kinda nice.
I'm glad I only got one.

I don't like that photoshop-ed coverart from the Straight Cut.
And I don't get it, because there is a "real" frontal pic of Monica in the tunnel.
