Personally I have no desire to see this movie, but it's incredibly upsetting that this movie will make millions of dollars at the box office, while Paddington 2(my favorite movie of the year so far) is already gone from my local theater.

The animation was well done. It was cute.
People acting like the movie kicked their dog or something. ![]() |

I wouldn't go as high as some of you but this is not even close at being terrible like so many are expecting it to based off on the trailer. It's certainly a decent watch with some nice slapstick humor. I dont think it was a waste of time at all, worth checking out.

The "kids jokes" in this were pretty awful (like the rapping bird) but when it just had weird, more adult humor (which seemed like a majority of it tbh) it was actually fairly funny. Nothin great, I'd give it a 6/10, but it wasn't a bad time at the theater

Lots of people saying that the film was “okay” and a solid “6/10”. This is why I’m not keen on this film, and many others of its ilk. They don’t even aim to be wonderful. Mediocrity is this film’s goal: make it *just* good enough so people want to see it, but not good enough to require any actual creativity, originality or independence of thought. Using up a potentially beautiful license to produce throwaway semi-entertainment.
I remember seeing Who Framed Roger Rabbit? when it came out in 1988. Certainly no 6/10 scores then; it was 10/10 all the way - and that film has lived on to this day. It aimed high and achieved proper greatness. I doubt Peter Rabbit will be remembered by the end of next week, let alone in 30 years time. That’s the big problem of films like this. They take an absolutely beloved character from the collective past of millions of now-grown-up children and drags it though the sewer for cheap laughs - all in the name of mediocrity. (Rant over). The pop stuff is a bit much, really bugged me in smurfs a lot especially since I was hoping for more peanuts level care, but I do like some adult themes.

3/5.
I thought the film was quirky and fun overall, but it felt like it was deep in a fight with itself over it wanted to be. I find the controversy to be far overblown and thought the moment was more tongue in cheek with [Show spoiler] I really liked Rose here. Just very sweet and charming. |
