Just looked at the specs. Got to say, that is incredibly strange to have a 2016 movie with just a 3.1 sound mix. And that is what Imdb lists as the audio specs for it as well.

Anno (the director) wanted to do it in mono just like the classic Godzilla films, but Toho denied it, saying that there would be theater audio system issues, so it was finally decided that a 3.1 was a good compromise.

But didn't Toho also release Miyazaki's The Wind Rises in mono just three years before Shin Godzilla?
Did they discover those theatre audio issues from theatrical showings of The Wind Rises?

As far as I'm concerned, I used my OPPO-UDP 203 (and its external subtitle support).

Ah cheers. I'll see if I can locate some subs. Or get a local Blu ray and get from that.

Got my shipping notice! Got a used copy of this and Mary and the Witches Flower!

Why would they?
If it didn't happen by now, I'm doubting it very much.
This release is from 2017.

Sorry if this is verboten, and apoligies in advance if it is, but does anyone have a suitable timed subtitle file for it? OCR'ing the Japanese ones is pretty tough. Seems half of the text is vertical!
