Do you consider it a hobby to collect blu rays?

Collecting movies, not just on Blu-ray has been a hobby of mine for years. It most definitely is a hobby. No one is going to convince me it's not. Others who collect special packaging, slip covers, special editions, etc.; they too are hobbyists. I don't understand the obsession, but I also don't have to. To each their own, and we as collectors/hobbyists all have our varying degrees of insanity.

I disagree. Shopping (even the act of buying) can definitely be a hobby. I know several women (and a couple of men) that definitely make it a hobby. It may not be a hobby for YOU, but you can't really define what a hobby is for anyone else.

While I said my hobby is film and blu-ray is just the outlet for that I DO think many people are into collecting as much as the movies and the collecting is a hobby. I don't see why anyone would argue otherwise. Check out the steelbook or slipcover sections sometime.

I am a movie lover plain and simple. I bought everything on DVD, but with BD I try to be selective and my collection consists of favorites and guilty pleasures only. I do blind buy but it is rare. My movie room is covered with film posters/prints and collectibles. It is my hobby. I love to hunt and search for a movie the old school way- driving to stores, shops, flea markets etc. I do order online but it takes away from the thrill of the hunt, especially when you score!
