DH2 knows it's over the the top and self aware ("How can the same sh*t happen to the same guy twice?") and that's why I like it more than LW2. Between the one liners in the middle of action scenes, the crazy cockpit scene with the grenades, the stupid twist 3/4 of the way through the movie, i think it's great. All that stuff may make some people roll their eyes but I had a lot of fun with it. And that end fight on the wing of the plane is simply awesome.

I see them both as 4.5/5 star ratings. Insane good movies in pretty great franchises.

Nothing and I mean nothing makes me more happier then seeing Murtaugh plug that DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY prick at the end of LW2, so maybe I lean that side by a sliver.

Lethal Weapon 2, for the win. I can't stand Die Harder; the only worse entry is A Good Day to Die Hard, but that's not saying much.

I like both films. They're really mean-spirited at times and while I enjoy DH2 more overall I don't think it can match LW2's sheer quoteability. "But you're bleck!"

I agree with Skycap though, I think Lethal Weapon as a franchise is more consistently enjoyable down the line than the later Die Hards are. Lotta love for LW3 & 4 here too! I still say "Enter the Drag-queen" far more often than is healthy.

Besides, the best Die Hard sequel is still Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Lethal Weapon 2. For me it is at the same level as the original. Die Hard 2 although I enjoy it doesn't live up to the first one.

Lethal 2 all the way. But I do like Die Harder as well. Willis himself has dissed DH2 from time to time and like some of the other members I agree that Vengeance is the best sequel in the series. It's directly connected to the original and pretty much ignores the events in DC.

It baffles me some don't like Die Hard 3 much. That movie was the biggest thing in the world to me when it came out.

That's the bomb on the toilet one, right? definitely Lethal Weapon 2. But Die Hard 1 is better than Lethal Weapon.

Wasn't Die Hard WAV meant as a Lethal Weapon sequel at some point?

The originals are neck and neck but the sequel battle (and overall series/franchise) goes to Riggs & Murtaugh IMO and it isn't very close.

Love Die Hard 3. I do like the first 2 more though. Maybe it's because there had already been a slew of bomb thrillers that had already come out the year prior that Die Hard 3 didn't pack as much punch for me. Die Hard 1 and 2 were the only 1 man vs. terrorists films to come out still when they were first released so they felt more fresh. I don't know if it's just me either but I predicted who Jeremy Irons character was (in association to Die Hard 1) right at the beginning of Die Hard 3 too so the twist also didn't pack as much punch for me.

Woah, I was going to create a list, but this is pretty much the same as mine. Although I may put Lethal Weapon 2 over Die Hard.

I love how everyone says Die Hard is the best Christmas film, which is ridiculous in itself, but not only is it not the best Christmas film, it's not even the best Christmas action film haha. It's very good, don't get me wrong, but Lethal Weapon trumps it in my opinion!

Hmmm. Yeah I'd call Die Hard possibly the best action film ever made. Not just best Christmas action film let alone best Christmas film. That's another thread though.

This kind of question is kind of ridiculous. They are both great action films and neither is better or superior than the other. Trying to compare each other is impossible because they surpassed the original films form which they are based on. For me, both films are great and I can't prefer one over the other.

It would have been easier trying to compare either film against some other sequel, such as Empire Strikes Back or Die Hard 2? Maybe even Die Hard 2 or Mission Impossible 2?

Lethal Weapon 2 and Die Hard 2 are basically even up on the playing field because fans of these movie franchises enjoy them equally. The sequels that came after kind of puttered these film franchises out.

Lethal Weapon 2! I may even prefer it to the first and I love the first L.W! I used to think Die Hard 2 was the weakest in the series, until the last two came along.
