Hail, Ceasar!
The Legend of Tarzan
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
Nerve -- don't know what this is
Lights Out
The Shallows
Independence Day: Resurgence
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows -- I hate the concept
Ghosbusters
Sausage Party
Zoolander 2
Blair Witch -- I hate shakey cam/found footage
The Witch
The 5th Wave
Midnight Special
The Forest
The Disappointments Room -- don't know what this is
The Darkness
The Mechanic: Resurrection -- Didn't think I'd like it.
Wow, you have great taste in bad movies!

Hmm..... what I mean is that I agree with almost your entire list!! The bolded ones I hate. Others I knew I'd hate.

A few I thought were just ok and the only movie on your list that I actually thought was "good" was Shallows (I wasn't expecting too much from it in the first place.)

I shall look for your opinions on other movies!!

I like The Shallows a lot. It is a movie that doesn't need much depth.
The use/portrayal of social media technology in the movie might get dated after 10 years, though!

BTW some movies are meant to be creepy and not scary, and some movies are meant to be action and not scary.
I categorise The Shallows under Dumb Action movie.

Then again, there are people here who are listing films like Midnight Special as the worst of the year. *shrug*

The Witch. Everyone here loved it, I thought it was terrible. The nudity on the poster was highly misleading too!

God's of Eygpt
Zoolander 2

I am very tolerable when it comes to movies but these 2 were just awful.

Zoolander 2 was the worst of the 2016 movies I saw, but that wasn't unexpected. Hail, Ceasar! was the most disappointing because it didn't live up to its potential.

Many people dislike certain movies because they simply found certain flaws within aid movie. It has nothing to do with being cool.

I think you and I probably differ on what makes a good film.

Mechanic Resurrection was definitely the worst new release of 2016 that I saw. Just really poorly written, directed, effects, everything. And I like Statham movies usually.

Brothers Grimsby was particularly awful.

Worst movie I thought would be good - Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk

Not worst but out of 60+ new movies I saw last year Triple 9 was at the bottom of the list for me. So boring and unengaging.

Most disappointing was Neon Demon. Refn is one of the few directors whom I get truly excited about, but after the excellent Only God Forgives, I found Neon Demon very dull and empty.

Worst was easily Suicide Squad. The movie was so poorly put together, it's almost hard to categorize as a "feature film."

I would say Batman v Superman there was so much hype and excitement for that film and it turned out to be a total disappointment.

I would love to hear someone explain putting Midnight Special on a worst of 2016 list. Loved that one.

It was easily Independence Day: Regurgitation for me.

Easily Suicide Squad. I didn't want to see it as I'm not a fan of the new DC films, but my friends who wanted to see it payed the ticket. Absolutely awful in every way. A disgrace to see some of my favorite comic characters treated like that. Acting(save for Robbie and Smith) is atrocious and the writing and direction are terrible.
