I just re-cut the superior Mondo transfer to match the US theatrical (and had to use 3-4 re-colored clips form the MGM 4K to fill in the missing shots). Depending on how the Kino looks, my personal disc might still be the best version out there.

While it's true that the original theatrical cut of the film will never exist in the platonic ideal of having been fully dubbed at the time, the extended cut already has after-the-fact dubbing, so performing after-the-fact dubbing to fill in the gaps in the theatrical cut would still be preferable to that. The picture is "correct" in regards to the US theatrical. Many films have slightly different cuts depending on region. And if they were going to re-dub those parts, they would've done it 10 years ago when they did it the first time.

There wasn't much difference in the two versions. Tuco's fight with the soldiers was cut in a different order, and there were a few alternate shots, but it was almost exactly the same movie.

Here's hoping there's no yellow blanket over the picture this time. If it's proven that it's the original color timing, or at least something closer to what we were used to, I'm buying this.

My point is that there was no English-friendly version of any of the extended scenes when MGM prepared their new alternate cut, so there is no reason that they could not prepare an English-friendly version in the same way that they already did of the actual proper theatrical cut if they were inclined to do so. Right now, the extended cut has missing picture, an extra scene, and audio dubbed in way after the fact. There's no way any release could ever fix that audio issue without involving actual time travel, but the other two issues would be relatively simple to fix, and the audio issue wouldn't really be any worse off for it, because it will always exist for the extra scenes anyway.
