sounds like the definitive release, a shame that it's region locked

Well, I've cancelled at Amazon and ordered at HMV. They've had plenty of time to change the price.

Ditto. You'd think having had it pointed out to them they'd do something about it.

On some titles they now aren't price matching HMV until release day, as they did that with at least one of this week.'s new Indicator releases. Not sure why they wait so long as they must be losing orders to HMV.

With Pure Points and TopCashBack there is no comparison, not to mention it is a tenner less

i did that too. tbh, i expect amazon to drop the price on release / shipping, but i think they should have done so asap after the HMV price appeared. i did a chat with CS at amazon twice, and they were understanding the 1st time, belligerent the 2nd. i did pick up a bit of info i wan't previously aware of, that suppliers apparently set the price differently as each re-stock occurs - so even if the initial price is high with both parties, they're a little tied by one another.

Another order moved to HMV here. I've found with a few things lately that if they don't match straight away they seem to wait until after release. Easiest to just not have to keep an eye out.

I don't know why there is this expectation that Amazon must price match HMV. If they don't want to they don't have to and they can take the extra profit on the orders which aren't moved.

In fact Amazon have also been know to move the other way. If HMV list later at a higher price Amazon tend to increase their price.

If anyone is in UK, I don't know why you don't just order from HMV. As said earlier they offer loyalty (pure) points plus cashback, so a no brainer to buy from them. Okay it means overseas customers are screwed by Amazon's higher price, but there are many US retailers like BestBuy who don't ship to UK.

It is an assumption based on experience. If they don't want to drop the price then I'll take my order elsewhere if need be. A couple of quid here and there I'm not too bothered but if you can save a tenner on a single title screw it, I'll cancel and re-order elsewhere.

The only reason I kept my order with them for so long is because I have Prime.

Amazon are usually good with me - I'm on prime so maybe that has something to do with it - but if elsewhere has a better price I'll order there, as I have just done with this.

On the film, I was a bit annoyed I didn't get the opportunity to see it in my local cinema (nearest I could do is 20 miles+ away) so I'm excited to see it.

Bit the bullet and ordered off HMV. Taking too long waiting for Amazon's price to lower.

I wondered why the Amazon price was so much, but chalked it down to it been a special edition.

Well I've always assumed there's a significant amount of automation in this, unless some poor jobsworth on minimum wage has to sit there constantly refreshing the HMV pages to see the newest prices on everything. With the vast majority of pre-orders I have it happens like clockwork, amazon list high, it stay high until HMV list it lower and then it drops to match. Wolf Guy was probably the only order I've had to move so far this year. I favour amazon because of their pre-order guarantee and my Prime membership, and I'd guess outside of BDs probably half of everything I buy comes from amazon anyway!

I switched my order from Amazon to HMV last week. When do HMV usually despatch pre orders?

This and Scorsese's Silence are the two best films I've seen so far this year, look forward seeing the directors cut.
